Henry Unite shared thisI just completed the Open Source Society University CS core curriculum — a full, self-paced CS education built entirely from free, high-quality online resources. I hadn’t finished my undergrad, and I wanted a deeper, first-principles understanding of computer science without going back to traditional university. It took me five years (realistically could have been ~2 with more consistency), but I worked through 30 courses on weekends while working full-time. From building a computer from scratch in Nand to Tetris (easily the most mind-expanding course I’ve ever taken), to Andrew Ng’s Machine Learning, operating systems, algorithms, security, databases, and more — it was a transformative journey. Key Takeaways: - Self-paced learning was a game-changer for me. Traditional classrooms never clicked, but OSSU let me actually absorb the material. - These courses gave me a solid framework to reason about systems from the ground up. - The real value isn’t just the knowledge — it’s building the habit and confidence to keep learning for the rest of my career. - In a world of AI tools, this kind of foundational education feels more relevant than ever. Henry Unite liked thisHenry Unite liked thisLast week, a team including three engineers from Exowatt shipped a platform for hiring AI coworkers. Not a demo. A working platform. Five engineers, ten hours, at the eMerge Americas AI Hackathon in Miami. You describe the role in plain English inside Claude Desktop. Ninety seconds later, an AI employee shows up in Slack — wired to your data, running in your infrastructure, built to own work over weeks and months. For the demo, the team gave their new teammate a 3-million-row retail dataset and asked it to build a dashboard. It did. Then — and this is the interesting part — it stayed. An update request could be handled from the same Slack thread a week, month, or year from now. AI at the enterprise scale isn't about chatbots you talk to. Striven recently had a release that included a new Search which is leaps and bounds better than our previous one. Not only is it faster but I can find results much easier by searching by keywords. A great example of this is I was recently trying to find a previous release's notes so I can share some specifics about the Portal with a co-worker. In this short period everyone in our team has come to rely on him. One of the examples that is worth sharing is the Striven editor that we are going to use very soon. It is available in our Striven Open Source project.
