They were moving at a pace I couldn't have imagined across my two decades in this industry, and now it comes to a halt over a weekend. Down, but not out. I am optimistic about the future. We are in the early innings of this technology. It's accelerating exponentially, and life will come at us fast — but we will do everything we can to bend it toward good. The future of our country and its security depends on this. Much love and respect to my public sector team!

Tyler Johnson liked thisTyler Johnson liked thisBittersweet news: I’m closing an unforgettable chapter at AWS, where I’ve served as a Senior Solutions Architect for National Security. This was not an easy decision. I’ve loved this work, the people, and the mission we serve. What surprised me most when I joined Amazon, first in Professional Services, then as an SA, was that the Leadership Principles aren’t wall art. They’re muscle memory. Customer Obsession shows up in every facet of work, Think Big is the default lens. Learn and Be Curious is the permission slip to go deeper, faster, every single day. And Bias for Action to not wait for permission to do what's best for the mission. In Public Sector, it goes even further: mission obsession. I’ve watched teams know the mission so deeply they can finish the customer’s sentence and then deliver beyond it. That’s rare. That’s special. That’s Amazon. I owe a lot to the leaders and builders who made me better every day: Scott Reinfeld, Sean Batir, Scott Papson, Greg Decker Jerome Johnson, II, David Gleason, Brewster Smith, Panna Shetty, Nicholas Continetti, John Schieltz Rodgers Allen, Ron Weinstein, Yvette Cesario, Zachary Schmitt, Michael Liu, Gerry Hamel, Rajdeep Saha, Emily Webber, Ryan Chung, Molly Stewart, David Attaway, PhD, GISP, Brandon Gonzales Nick Soggin Jeffrey Pasqual, Anil Nadiminti, Trevor Spires, Akanksha A., Erwin Gilmore, Ph.D.Logan Meyer and so many more phenomenal teammates I couldn’t tag in one post. Thank you for the coaching, the candid feedback, the late-night whiteboards, and the relentless push to do what’s right for the mission. Moving from hybrid cloud architect to Generative AI specialist at AWS let me see the scale of what Amazonians do daily and it’s staggering. Together we helped customers ship, harden, and operationalize AI and cloud capabilities with speed and rigor. There’s still more I wanted to finish, but it’s the right time to let another AWS SA pick up the mantle. What’s next: I’m laser‑focusing on a new mission protecting customers’ AI systems against state actors and insider threats. I’ve built these systems as an architect and developer; now I’m going to protect them. I’ll remain the same person you know: customer‑obsessed, mission‑first, sleeves rolled up. People keep asking, “Would you ever come back to AWS?” Without hesitation, YES. Because of the mission, the bar, and the people. The energy, the innovation, and the people made this event unforgettable. I had the chance to connect with so many brilliant minds from across disciplines — each bringing fresh ideas and unique perspectives to the table. A personal highlight for me was meeting a mentor figure I’ve longed admired Ben Busby - whose work has deeply influenced how I think about the intersection of biology, data, and AI. Having the opportunity to exchange ideas in person was both surreal and motivating. I’m walking away from this hackathon feeling both humbled and motivated — with new connections, new skills, and a renewed sense of purpose in tackling complex biological problems through code. This role is especially meaningful to me, as it’s been held by three outstanding leaders prior to me whom I admire greatly and call close friends (Looking at you Teddy Lewis, Adrian Tarquinio, & Stuart Ritchie). I’m grateful for their example and for the opportunity to now support and grow the incredible team I’ve been fortunate to work alongside. We’re at a truly transformational time in technology. AI is reshaping industries across the board. At the heart of this transformation is data. You cannot have an AI strategy without a data strategy. At Snowflake, we’re helping organizations unlock the power of the AI Data Cloud to not just prepare for the future, but to build it responsibly, intelligently, and at scale. CAI is a global technology services firm with over 9,000 associates worldwide, partnering with state, local government, education, and commercial enterprises to modernize IT, accelerate digital transformation, and deliver measurable business and mission outcomes. In this role, I’ll be leading our cloud services strategy—helping clients migrate, optimize, and innovate at scale. We will be working closely with partners like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud to develop migration strategies that accelerate outcomes and deliver mission impact. We’re also building out our next-generation cloud team—and will be bringing in talent from across all cloud service providers.
