I’m blown away by the dedication and creativity of our interns, who are working on special projects designed to shape and evolve how we run our business at Adobe. It’s inspiring to see the networks they’re building, the insights they’re gaining, and the fresh perspectives they’re bringing to the table. Beyond Summit, being in San Jose at our mesmerizing HQ, and reconnecting with both familiar and new faces was truly a highlight. Our people are what make Adobe so special, and this week was a perfect reminder of that. A huge thank you to Carolyn Colbert, Dhwipa Patel, Katie Ellis, Ankita Vyass, Patrick O'Leary, Erin Milan, Vikram J Kamath, Ashley N. Aloha friends! 🌺 I have a quick question for anyone working in IT, security, or compliance: Have you ever tried explaining "risk" to someone outside our field (in a not-so-mundane way)? How did you go about doing it? For me, it’s not just about threats and vulnerabilities. Real risk management is how organizations turn uncertainty into a strategic advantage. Cliché, but true. Just this week, I was coaching someone through the difference between "compliance" and "risk." Here’s how I explained it using an analogy: Compliance is the surfboard: It gets you in the water, lets you play by the rules, and helps you stay afloat. (Though I'm not much of a surfer myself, I think we get the point.) Risk is the wave: Sometimes it’s calm, sometimes it surprises you - but you always have to read it, adjust, and ride smart (or so I'm told). If you only follow compliance rules, you’ll float - but it takes risk management to really surf. When you connect these concepts for your team or clients, suddenly cybersecurity isn’t just about “checking boxes.” It’s about making better decisions, building resilience, and standing out as a partner people can trust. I’m building more practical GRC guides (and a SOC 2 course) in partnership with Safer Internet Project to help professionals actually apply this stuff, not just memorize it. My hope is that it helps to build a "security-focused" culture where we take into account safety and ethics, not just speed and efficiency. Excited to share soon! Stay tuned 🤙
