Within 15 months of launch, we are adding new parameters to our Vetscan Opticell hematology platform that were previously just not possible. Through AI machine vision, we can bring reference lab technology directly to point of care. The new CHCM parameter will allow vets to directly measure hemoglobin concentration - something only specialized lab analyzers could do - until now. I’m incredibly optimistic that we are just scratching the surface of what’s possible. And what it will enable for out veterinary teams and pets.

Tom Ellis reposted thisTom Ellis reposted thisWe’re excited to share that Vetscan OptiCell™ will be the first and only point‑of‑care hematology analyzer to offer Cellular Hemoglobin Concentration Mean (CHCM). Previously available only in reference labs, this direct measurement of the average hemoglobin concentration within individual red blood cells delivers greater accuracy than traditional calculated values—especially in complex cases. Building on OptiCell’s AI-powered, cartridge-based platform that already provides complete blood count (CBC) results in-clinic, we’re expanding capabilities in 2026 with two new parameters, bringing the total to 24. Alongside CHCM, Plateletcrit (PCT) adds insight into platelet volume and health, helping clinicians more effectively detect changes in production or destruction. Together, these enhancements strengthen OptiCell’s ability to deliver fast, actionable results at the point of care—supporting veterinary teams in making informed decisions and improving patient outcomes. The world is shifting. The animal health industry is shifting. Change is inevitable and coming from every direction. But this team? Constant, steadfast and focused on growth and business agility. We challenged each other’s thinking. We leaned into the deep customer expertise sitting around that table. We rallied around each other — and around the people counting on us throughout the organization. From inspiring sessions and big-picture strategy conversations to celebrating wins and building deeper connections, it was truly an energizing experience. There’s something powerful about getting everyone together in one place, sharing ideas, recognizing achievements, and aligning on the vision for what’s ahead. The highlight, as always, was the people. The collaboration, the laughter, the team dinners, and the unforgettable themed event reminded me why I’m so grateful to work at Zoetis. The passion and drive across the group is contagious, and it makes me proud to contribute to such a strong, supportive culture. I loved spending the week with my new team!
