So far, I haven’t had a clear “wow” moment. It seems capable, but I haven’t yet found a use case where it clearly outperforms Opus 4.8 or Sonnet 5. I’m curious what others are seeing. Where has Fable 5 impressed you? What types of tasks does it handle noticeably better than Opus 4.8 or Sonnet 5? I’d love to hear specific examples or workflows where you’ve found it shines. I’ve coached 650+ CEOs. The best communicators know Your words either open people up or shut them down. What not to say: ❌ "Why did you let this happen?" ❌ "How did you miss that?" ❌ "Just do what I asked." ❌ "You always do this." ❌ "Let's just move on." ❌ "That won't work." Most leaders have said at least one of these. Not out of malice. Out of pressure. But every one puts people on the defensive. The brain shifts from solving the problem to protecting itself. And after that, honesty stops. What to say instead: ✅ "What can we learn from this?" ✅ "Help me understand your concern." ✅ "I noticed this. Can we talk about it?" ✅ "I see it differently. Can I share why?" ✅ "What do you need from me right now?" ✅ "Thanks for flagging it. What's the next step?" Same situations. Different outcomes. The first set shuts people down. The second set builds a team that trusts you enough to tell the truth. Every leader gets these moments daily. The ones who get the language right build teams that run on trust, not fear. But most employees would tell a different story. The truth? Culture isn't what you say it is. It's what your people experience daily. 6 green flags that separate great cultures from fake ones: 1/ People speak up without fear. The newest hire feels safe challenging the most senior leader. That's trust in action. 2/ Bad behavior is never ignored. One toxic person left unchecked sends a louder message than any value on the wall. 3/ Feedback flows in every direction. Up, down, sideways. No one is above hearing the truth. No one is below being heard. 4/ People are growing, not just performing. Hitting targets matters. But the best cultures also ask: are our people becoming better than when they started? 5/ Top performers stay for years. Great people have options. They stay where they feel valued. Shouldn’t driving cleaner be rewarded? From what I learned, it’s about replacing gas tax revenue that pays for roads. Less gas purchased, less tax collected, but the same roads still get used. Tom Krueger shared this𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗔𝗜-𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟲 – 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Level 6 is where AI stops just writing code and starts protecting quality. Let’s face it. Most developers were not great at writing tests. We all knew they mattered. We just did not always get to them. Level 6 changes that. At this level, AI uses your specs and acceptance criteria to generate tests, create realistic test data, run those tests, and iterate until the behavior matches the intent. This brings us much closer to true test-driven development, because AI can now produce the tests consistently and at speed. ⸻ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘄 AI can generate code incredibly fast. That is both a gift and a risk. When code changes quickly, regressions become easier to introduce and harder to catch. A strong automated test suite is no longer optional. It is the safety net that allows velocity without fear. Level 6 makes it realistic to add tests as part of the default workflow, not something you promise to add later. ⸻ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟲 AI can now: • Generate tests directly from specs and acceptance criteria • Create realistic data and edge cases • Run tests automatically • Fix failures and rerun • Tell you when behavior actually matches intent You are no longer reviewing code and hoping it works. AI proves it. ⸻ 𝗔 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 AI is very good at generating tests. Sometimes too good. It will often generate too many tests, duplicate setup code, or create brittle tests that add noise instead of confidence. Just like application code, tests need standards. You should define rules and example patterns for how tests are written, structured, named, and shared. Otherwise you trade one problem for another. One more lesson I learned the hard way: I only fully trust tests that existed before the change. AI can generate a failing test, but the failure may be in the test itself, not the code. Tests still require review for correctness, performance, and signal to noise ratio. AI can write tests at scale. Engineers still own test quality. ⸻ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗳𝗳 Quality becomes automatic. Confidence increases. Refactors feel safer. Velocity scales without chaos. This is where AI starts to earn real trust. 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Are tests part of your AI workflow yet, or are they still something you plan to add later?

Tom Krueger liked thisTom Krueger liked thisAs the tag says "Open to Work", but really -- I'm "Anxious for some challenging work" Senior Software Engineers by no means are a cookie cutter role, but a diverse group of specialized and generalized group passionate about the technology they are exposed to. Anyone that has worked with me, knows the benefit of having someone that can drop into the code, understand it, and improve the outcome. If anyone in my network knows of openings, C#/.NET/SQL or other skills - you know I put everything into what I do, and get results. And you as well know I don't fear learning new systems, platforms, coding methodologies, but instead immerse myself and understand what the intent is and embrace the positives and minimize the negatives of any system I work with. I can't say AI killed my job, but it was AI allowing ignorant and lazy management to feel empowered to make cost cutting measures to balance hefty promises. The greed of companies cutting costs not because they have to, but because they want to has led to people being treated as assets and hardware, not as part of the team and company that they were led to believe they were part of building. I'd like to say AI could improve my job search, but I feel it's flooded the market with distractions for companies hiring to never have a resume be seen by the right people. To all I've worked with -- a reminder that it's been a fun journey through the gaming years, and through the "real world" of software engineering. Looking forward to the next step of the journey!

Tom Krueger liked thisTom Krueger liked thisLooking for a job has reminded me a lot of running a production platform. You can't obsess over one deployment. You have to think about the whole system. One interview doesn't go your way? Keep moving. A recruiter disappears? That's frustrating, but it doesn't mean the system is broken. An opportunity falls apart after four interviews? It happens. You don't scrap the platform because one service had a bad day. The trick is paying attention to what actually works. Which conversations turn into introductions? Which introductions become interviews? Which parts of your approach are just burning time? In infrastructure, if every failed request wakes you up at 2 a.m., you've probably built the wrong alerting strategy. Job hunting isn't much different. Every rejection feels personal at first. It isn't. Keep improving. Keep putting yourself out there. Keep the pipeline full. Funny enough, years in DevOps prepared me for this better than I ever realized.

Tom Krueger liked thisTom Krueger liked thisCounteroffers are always interesting conversations. I've never really been in the camp that says accepting one is automatically a bad idea. Sometimes staying is absolutely the right decision! What I do think is that a counteroffer comes with a whole new set of questions. If compensation was the issue and that's being addressed, great. But if that's the case, why did it take the threat of someone leaving for that conversation to happen? And if the reasons for looking were growth opportunities, leadership, feeling stuck, work-life balance, or something else entirely, are those things changing too? Because if they aren't, all you've really done is make the decision harder. I don't think counteroffers are good or bad. I just think they're worth looking at from more than one angle. There probably isn't one right answer here, which is part of what makes these conversations so interesting!
