Stop using Claude like it's 2024. "Write in short sentences. My audience is founders. No bullet points. Match my voice." There's a setting that holds all of this context permanently so you never type it again. And so much more to Claude that will make your life easier Here are the 19 rules I follow when I use Claude: 1/ Setup - Switch on memory so Claude doesn't start from scratch every time - Switch to Opus for basically everything (unless your strapped for time) - Turn on Extended Thinking for complex, multistep tasks - Pick the right mode for yourself. Chat to think, Code to build, Cowork to automate 2/ Context - Upload .MD files for context like style guides, customer profiles, etc - Connect your tools so Claude works inside Notion, Gmail, etc. directly - Create a Project for recurring tasks and add your rules and examples once - One Project = one simple task like "client proposals" not "marketing" 3/ Prompting - Show Claude what good looks like - examples of successful tasks, outcomes - Assign it a role, "You are a senior recruiter" and it will respond like an expert - Add specific constraints “don’t ask more than 5 questions” rather than “don’t ask too many questions” - Always ask for 5 options, not one right answer 4/ Iteration -If Claude can’t explain an idea like you’re 10, it’s not ready yet -Create an editable doc or tracker inside the chat with Artifacts -Never accept the first draft -Claude agrees with you by default, teach it ask you tough questions 5/ Systems - Save your best prompts and reuse them - Install Claude Skills for tasks like research or writing - Build a custom Skill for specific, recurring tasks like “Anti-AI content checklist” - Set Claude up right once so you don’t waste any time again. 📌 Want a high-res PDF of this sheet? Every episode is packed with the same mental traps that quietly sabotage team decisions at work. Here are 6 that show up constantly on that show and in your Monday meetings too: 1. Groupthink Bad ideas survive because no one wants to be the one who disagrees, especially when everyone else is already nodding. 2. Shared Information Bias Teams obsess over what everyone already knows, while the most valuable insight never leaves someone’s head. 3. The Abilene Paradox People agree to plans they privately hate, assuming everyone else is on board, even when no one actually is. 4. The Bandwagon Effect One confident voice speaks up, and suddenly a fragile idea gets the momentum it never earned. 5. Social Loafing The bigger the group, the less effort each person puts in. Ex-racing Greyhound Percy has never had the chance to enjoy home comforts. He arrived at Dogs Trust Shoreham in July 2025 and while staff describe him as having the loveliest personality, Percy is a nervous boy who lacks confidence and can find the world overwhelming. Like many racing Greyhounds, Percy had not experienced the sounds and activities of a normal home, as racing dogs are typically kennelled for much of the day. Percy has been placed in a foster home to learn about home life and has come on leaps and bounds. I've given 100s of presentations over the years. The biggest attention killer: lack of planning. The quality of your slides doesn't matter if you're not prepared. Whether you're in the boardroom or on stage, people can tell when you're winging it. That's why you need frameworks that actually work. Here's how to deliver presentations that win clients and opportunities: Before you present: ☐ Research your audience. Who's in the room and what do they care about?  ☐ Define your one takeaway. If they remember nothing else, what should it be? ☐ Prepare 3 stories or examples that prove your point ☐ Rehearse out loud at least 3 times ☐ Test your tech and have a backup plan ☐ Arrive early to read the room Use the STAR Framework for storytelling: S - Situation: Set the scene. What was the problem? T - Task: What needed to be done? A - Action: What specific steps did you take? R - Result: What happened? Use numbers or proof. This works for client case studies, personal stories, or explaining your process. Follow the Rule of Three: People remember information in groups of three. For client pitches: Problem, solution, outcome. For public speaking: Hook, teaching point, call to action. For product demos: Pain point, how it works, what changes. Use the 10-20-30 Rule (Guy Kawasaki): 10 slides, 20 minutes, 30-point font minimum. If you need more time or a smaller font, your message isn't clear. Open with a hook that grabs attention: - Bold statement: "Companies waste 60% of their budget on the wrong channels." - Personal story: "Three years ago, I lost a $500K client because of one mistake..." - Question: "What would change if you could cut acquisition cost in half?" - Stat: "87% of B2B buyers say they'll pay more to companies they trust." - Scenario: "Picture this: You close deals in 30 days instead of 6 months." Close with a clear ask: 1. Summarize your one point in one sentence 2. Connect it back to their specific problem 3. Give them a clear next step For clients: "Let's schedule 30 minutes next week to map this out." For speaking: "Download the framework and try it this week." For pitches: "Can we move forward with a pilot starting next month?" Great presentations should create momentum. And when you master your preparation, every presentation becomes an opportunity. Vision is only one part of a leader's job. Clear communication is what drives action. I've worked with a lot of execs who are great at executing tasks and setting the vision. But when it comes to communication, whether in a meeting or high-stakes presentation, they default to familiar patterns. They over-explain, try to fill in silences, or start without a solid plan on how to get their message across. I've found frameworks are a good start to give the structure you need to make a strong impact. Here are six of them I share all the time: 1️⃣ PREP Method ↳ When you need a clean answer fast. P - Start with your conclusion. R - Give the logic behind it. E - Share one concrete example. P - Close by repeating your conclusion. 2️⃣ What? / So What? / Now What? ↳ When updates are messy and people need a decision. Go through... → What are the clear, simple facts? → Why do they matter? → What happens next? 3️⃣ COIN Method ↳ When you need to address challenges without escalating tension. Give your team member: • Context about the specific situation. • Observations on what you heard or saw. • Impact on outcomes, team, or work. • Next step on how to move forward. 4️⃣ Pyramid Thinking ↳ When you're writing an exec note, board update, or proposal. Start with the recommendation or decision needed. ↓ Add 2-4 reasons that support it. ↓ Provide details and evidence after the logic is made clear. 5️⃣ RACI ↳ When work is stalling, duplicating, or decisions are muddy. Make it clear who is: → Responsible for the work. → Accountable for the outcome. → Consulted for their insight. → Informed about updates. 6️⃣ Three Modes of Listening ↳ You need to adjust how you approach a conversation depending on the situation. • Internal listening: Reacting and thinking of your response. • Person listening: Focusing on meaning and intent. • Room listening: You notice tone and what isn't being said. Out of all of these, RACI and asking "what, so what, now what?" are methods I use most. And different leaders will gravitate towards different techniques.
