Lisa Graves shared this🔴 BOOK LAUNCH: "Without Precedent" - Today is the launch of my first book: Without Precedent: How Chief Justice Roberts and His Accomplices Rewrote the Constitution and Dismantled Our Rights. I hope you will read it and share it. It helps explains how the Supreme Court got us into the mess we are in and urges that we work together to reform the Court and restore our freedoms. More below. Lisa Graves, the executive director of True North Research and co-founder of Court Accountability, brings expertise and new insights to her analysis of Chief Justice Roberts' tenure. Her new book, out today, details: • How Roberts conducted a secret "audition" for his Supreme Court seat while presiding over the Bush administration's signature Guantanamo case and side-stepped ethics rules to do so • The coordinated campaign fueled by right-wing billionaires that installed him as the first justice backed by dark money operations and their operatives • His systematic efforts to limit voting rights protections that began in the Reagan DOJ, and how he has distorted the law and limited our rights in others ways, including through orchestrating the unprecedented ruling to give Donald Trump immunity, which helped sweep him back into office where his MAGA agenda is now being actively aided by the Roberts Court. This isn't partisan politics → it's documented legal history that every concerned citizen, attorney, and policymaker needs to understand. https://lnkd.in/etbGVVCW

John Morales, Ph.D. Thank you for taking the time to reply, although you could not be more wrong or disrespectful in your aspersions, John. Well, actually you could be, I am sure of that. I hope you will take some time to read the actual Constitution and write back when you discover the invisible ink that allows a president, whose duty is to faithfully execute the laws, to break them. In the meantime, I hope you will reflect on why you would use such demeaning language--like petulant, churlish, puerile, histrionic, risible, and caterwauling--to describe a book you haven't even read. I sure hope you counseled parishioners with more grace and less reliance on your thesaurus than you have displayed here or else you've done a great disservice to them, too.

Lisa Graves liked this🐅 MIZ! Thrilled to be part of this year’s Mizzou RAH class!Lisa Graves liked thisMeet Jacob Bogage (BA ‘16, BJ ‘19) — White House Correspondent in Washington D.C. and one of this year’s Mizzou R.A.H. honorees! Jacob has contributed to Pulitzer Prize winning journalism that examined major transformations in the federal government, a process that impacted public services and the lives of millions of Americans. His coverage has led to multiple congressional hearings and landmark legislation. Jacob’s best advice for new graduates is, "Do work – professionally, in your community – that you find meaningful. That’s where you’ll experience the most growth and how you’ll do the most good. Your field of study is a lens through which to examine the world. Use that lens not as a credential, but a way of life.” Congratulations, Jacob, and thank you for showing what it truly means to be #MizzouMade. Been working with a scrappy group of local organizers to get this up since the court gave Trump a 14-day deadline to take his name off the Kennedy Center, and now people are tuning in from across the country. Check it out and help spread the word: https://lnkd.in/e8ZXnwke

Lisa Graves liked thisLisa Graves liked thisTo my colleagues who are members of the Rhode Island Bar: I encourage you to consider adding your name to this letter urging the Rhode Island Bar Association to oppose a proposed rule by the United States Department of Justice. The rule would let the Attorney General stop state investigations of attorney misconduct by DOJ attorneys. State bars have a responsibility to investigate allegations of misconduct against the attorneys they license. Our profession and the rule of law are strengthened when state bars provide this kind of independent accountability over DOJ. The proposed rule is a huge step backwards at the worst time. For those interested, please find the letter here: https://lnkd.in/eybjFXKF.

Lisa Graves reacted on thisLisa Graves reacted on thisI am excited to share that I am rejoining Campaign Legal Center as Director of Strategic Investigations. In this role, I’ll be leading a talented team working to uncover and counter campaign finance violations, ethics abuses, and threats to free and fair elections. Our investigations support legal action, drive policy reform, and promote public accountability—ensuring that the freedom to vote is protected and that our democracy is responsive to voters, not just megadonors. Proud to be back at an organization committed to strengthening our democracy.
