Jay Torres reposted thisJay Torres reposted this🗣️🗣️UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report 2026, Featuring Film, Part 2: STREAMING is NOW AVAILABLE! Download it at https://lnkd.in/gpDxhf7J For the past three years, Part 2 of the film report had considered English-language films released directly on the major streaming services that were ranked in the top 100 among total households in a given year. In 2025, however, there were fewer than 100. So, this report’s analyses included all 89 streaming originals films that were released in that year. As in previous years, we tracked those employed in key positions and examined the composition of the cast in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, and disability among these streaming releases. We also investigated how these streaming films fared in terms of TV and social media ratings among viewers from different demographic backgrounds. The following are this report’s key findings: 🔹BIPOC creatives lost ground across all key employment positions (i.e., streaming film leads, directors, writers, and total actors) among streaming films in 2025. Most notably, BIPOC leads fell to 36 percent after a high of 51 percent in 2024. 🔹Women also lost ground in every key employment position except for writers. Although they played the majority of streaming leads, they had reduced opportunities as directors in 2025. Streaming films directed by women fell to 23.6 percent, a low in the streaming film report series. In addition, 81 percent offilms helmed by a woman, regardless of race or ethnicity, had a streaming film budget of less than $20 million. 🔹In 2025, comedy was the most viewed genre across most household and viewer groups. In addition, animation was the most discussed genre in terms of total social media interactions across most viewer groups in 2025. 🔹Following a similar pattern found in previous reports in this series, BIPOC households were overrepresented as household viewers (compared to their population share) for nine of the top 10 streaming films and for seventeen of the top 20 streaming films (ranked by total household ratings) in 2025. 🔹“KPop Demon Hunters” topped household ratings across all audience demographic groups studied, with women of color especially helping to drive unprecedented Nielsen ratings. ⏩️Download the report at https://lnkd.in/gpDxhf7J where you can also find our recently released theatrical report. #uclahollywooddiversityreport #race #ethnicity #gender #disability

Jay Torres reposted thisJay Torres reposted thisOur new 2025 LDC U.S. Latinos in Media Report: Full Year Update is out. Every year, we ask the same question: What is the data telling us about the future of media? This year's answer is remarkably consistent. U.S. Latinos continue to be a central driver of growth, consumption, and cultural relevance across the media economy. They over-index in theatrical attendance, engage deeply across streaming platforms, and remain a critical audience for ad-supported and live content. The opportunity is already visible: • U.S. Latinos drove 35% of opening-weekend audiences for the year's biggest theatrical releases. • Latino-led scripted streaming titles achieved a 38.5% success rate, outperforming every other demographic group. • Young U.S. Latinos are moving to creator-driven platforms faster than the national average, reshaping how media is consumed and discovered. This year's report also introduces a more precise lens on Mexican-origin participation, recognizing that understanding the largest segment of the U.S. Latino population is essential to understanding the market itself. One theme connects every chapter of the report: misalignment, not uncertainty, is the industry's greatest risk. Audience behavior is already signaling where growth is happening. The question is whether strategy, investment, and creative decision-making will align with it. At Latino Donor Collaborative, our mission remains the same: providing credible, fact-based research that helps institutions understand the future they are already entering. I hope you'll read the report, engage with the findings, and join the conversation.

Jay Torres liked thisJay Torres liked thisRich Orosco is joining us at The Global Game Summit. ⚽ Rich is Chief Brand Officer of Los Angeles Football Club, one of the most successful and valuable franchises in Major League Soccer. Since joining LAFC, Rich has helped build one of the most culturally relevant brands in global sports. The club has captured an MLS Cup, multiple Supporters’ Shields, a U.S. Open Cup title, and was recently recognized as the most valuable club in Major League Soccer. What makes Rich a particularly important voice at this conference is his unique combination of sports, entertainment, and brand-building expertise. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has helped launch and grow some of the most recognizable brands in media and sports. Before LAFC, Rich held senior marketing roles at Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television, where he helped launch TMZ and The Insider, while also leading campaigns for Entertainment Tonight. He has spent his career building challenger brands that break through crowded markets and connect deeply with fans and culture. As soccer continues its rise in North America, the ability to create a brand that extends beyond the pitch is becoming one of the most important competitive advantages in sports. Few executives have demonstrated that better than Rich. 📅 The Global Game Summit | July 15, 2026 | Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Jay Torres liked thisJay Torres liked this24 years ago, I directed a music video in one continuous take. No cuts. No CGI. No AI. One camera on a motion-control rig, moving through a restaurant for the entire song — Knoc-turn'al playing 25 different characters, Dr. Dre at a table, Missy Elliott walking in mid-verse. Every mark, every costume change, every camera move had to land perfectly, live, or we started over. And even then, it was still over a month of compositing and cleanup in the Inferno at POP. "The Knoc" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Short Form Music Video. We lost to Eminem's "Without Me." No shame in that. I'm sharing it now because lately, some people see my AI work and assume I'm a guy who types prompts and calls himself a filmmaker. I understand the skepticism — honestly, I do. This technology is disruptive, it's moving fast, and a lot of talented people are worried about what it means for their livelihoods. Those fears deserve respect, not dismissal. But here's what 30+ years behind the camera taught me: the tool has never been the point. Motion control was once the intimidating new technology. So was digital editing. So were tools like Paintbox, The Henry, The Flame and the Inferno, which by the way operated on a computer the size of an industrial restaurant refrigerator and cost around one million dollars. So was the digital camera itself at one point. (this was shot on film) What survives every shift is the same thing that made this video work in 2002 — story, timing, blocking, performance, and knowing exactly what the frame needs before you shoot it. I didn't stop being a director when I picked up new tools. I just kept doing what directors do: solving the shot. Here's the video. Judge the craft for yourself. #Filmmaking #MusicVideo #DirectorsLife #AIFilmmaking #Storytelling #DrDre #MissyElliott #HipHop Chuck Ozeas Chris Palladino Terry O'Gara Neil Maiers

Jay Torres liked thisJay Torres liked thisA memory popped up this morning that stunned me. Today is my 13 year anniversary of taking a chance on myself. 13 years ago I was a musical theater performer in NYC. I was working, but I wasn’t fulfilled. I knew I wanted to be in the audition room … but I didn’t want to be the one auditioning. So I took a chance on myself. I contacted the wonderful CD Jason Najjoum and said “I think I want to go into casting. What do you think?” Without flinching, he took me under his wing and made me his Assistant Casting Director for Prospect Theatre Company’s “Unlock’d.” And, in doing so, taught me all the essential tools to do Casting professionally. I never looked back. I’m so proud of this version of myself. Beaming in Times Square under the “Unlock’d” marquis. Partially in shock that I had a hand in the Casting. You did the dang thing girl. And by branching out with Katie Proctor Enterprises you’re doing it again. Don’t forget to thank your past self for being brave. And if you’re thinking of making a new move now … do it! Your future self will thank you.

Jay Torres liked thisJay Torres liked thisI am excited to announce the launch of Ulbrich Advisory, a strategic AI advisory firm working at the gap between what frontier AI can do and what actually ships in production, across film, television, music, and advertising. For thirty years I have been a bridge between Hollywood and the frontier of technology, trusted by both, putting the latest breakthroughs into the hands of extraordinary teams who used them to create category defining work that shipped on screen, on time, on budget, at the highest stakes. Here is what I have learned across every one of those shifts. Highly advanced technology matters, and knowing which tools, engineers, and companies to bet on is mission-critical. But adoption is where it is won or lost. The winners are the ones who get frontier capability working inside real teams, real pipelines, and real rights constraints, without breaking trust with the artists who matter most. That gap is where Ulbrich Advisory works. I help three kinds of clients: ▪ Studios, IP holders, and their supply chain, adopting AI safely and at scale. ▪ AI labs, model and agentic companies, building real traction and product-market fit in Hollywood and across media and entertainment. ▪ Investors and private equity, diligencing the high-stakes bets at this intersection. Board roles, strategic advisory, and diligence. If you are building, buying, funding, or betting on the future of AI-driven production, let's talk. I trade in trust, accountability, and results.
