Tara Pak posted thisAfter seeing my cursor trudge back and forth, I’ve finally settled on the words to share that my chapter at PATH has come to a close. Farewells are odd. Nine years instantly turn to nine seconds. Suddenly I’m in my 30s with crow’s feet, carpal tunnel, and 13 new strands of white hair. I’m saddened to admit that winning the California Lottery wasn’t among my achievements here. However, I’m passing through PATH Metro Villas’ glass double doors with the wealth of lifelong friendships and memories, vocal cords strained from laughter, and experiences that enriched my sight with hues I never knew existed. My team knows that I despise long sentences and narratives, but I’m making a one-time exception to acknowledge these last nine years. Thank you to Melissa Kham for hiring me and prioritizing my development; Jennifer Hark Dietz and Joel John Roberts for gifting me the guidance and runway to forge ahead; Swetha Medepalli and Beth Forbes for defining collaboration; ChatGPT for explaining aluminum coils to a five-year-old (i.e., me); and my mentors, colleagues, and partners at PATH for letting me join their efforts to ensure that everyone has a safe place to call home. Having graduated from PATH as Tara 2.0, I’m headed toward an exciting opportunity and can’t wait to tell you all about it soon.

JFFM is a Moroccan NGO dedicated to advancing women’s rights and gender equality. Working with partners including UN agencies, it supports advocacy, training, and initiatives that strengthen women’s leadership and participation in both public life and political affairs.

Tara Pak reacted on thisTara Pak reacted on thisI’m excited to share that I have begun my summer internships with the Syrian Democratic Council UK Office and Tibet House (representing the Central Tibetan Administration) in London. Both the Kurdish and Tibetan peoples continue to resist state marginalization while advocating for human rights and self-determination. Alongside these roles, I am also working with the Institute of Humanitarian Conflict Resolution to combine research and outreach from both positions into actionable conflict-resolution and humanitarian advocacy initiatives. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from these organizations and I look forward to deepening my understanding of human rights work.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work across housing programs, landlord engagement, and program operations supporting people experiencing homelessness. Those experiences sparked my interest in improving systems and policies that shape how services are delivered. I’m excited to join Brilliant Corners in a role where I can contribute to that work while applying my background in applied psychology, research, and program development. Having collaborated with Brilliant Corners and the FHSP program in previous roles, I’ve long respected the organization’s mission and the impact of its work, so it’s especially meaningful to now be part of the team. I’m only a few days in, but I’ve already felt incredibly welcomed and have been enjoying the opportunity to learn from such a dedicated team. Looking forward to what’s ahead!
