Engineer of the Year
-
Awarded outstanding engineer of the year for developing, implementing and managing strategies for improving rolled throughput yield on a program that had been stuck in the product development phase due to low yield for over two years. These efforts resulted in meeting yield targets and the successful transition of the program into production.

Tanner was immediately given responsibility for (22) valve outlines that were earlier divided among three PMs, with the special task of improving rolled throughput yield.
Tanner met the challenge of improving these valves with a hands-on approach. He spent time on the factory floor (including off-shifts) understanding the hardware and assembly processes. He analyzed historical quality data and lead PFMEAs to prioritize improvement opportunities. Most importantly, Tanner closely collaborated with the PEs and others to jointly understand RTY barriers, then helped to bring resources forward to address.
Recently, more resources (PSE, Engr, etc.) have been added to RTY-improvement activity. Tanner has continued to play a leadership role in coordinating them. The results have been notable, with steady valve RTY improvement over the last (3) months.
Tanner is a role model in driving AME collaboration. Combine this with strong ownership of both product and process and tangible results, and Tanner has raised the bar for the Tempe AME-NPD team. -
