Why so many designers panic quoting $2K–8K? They freeze. Their voice shakes. They throw in “OH But I’m flexible” before the client even reacts lol. Let me be clear: 💀 If quoting $2-5K makes you sweat, you are doing it right. You are stepping up. You are pricing based on value — not pixels or screens. And the truth is: You don’t wait to feel confident before quoting high. You quote it scared… until one day it feels normal. Want to stop lowballing yourself? 1- Sell the outcome (retention, conversion, clarity)—not just a redesign 2-Practice saying your price out loud — until it feels boring 3-Speak to founders who actually care about UX 4-Anchor your price to the business problem, not your hours 5-Remind yourself: You are not just a designer The client’s not the only one making a decision, You are too. I can’t emphasize this enough and you've heard it multiple times before but I’m saying it again: Design thinking is one of the most critical leadership skills today. It’s not just a buzzword or a process for designers. It’s a mindset that teaches leaders to truly empathize, face uncertainty with curiosity, and solve problems creatively. But let me be honest it takes time to really get the hang of it. Design thinking requires patience, practice, and a willingness to experiment and fail forward. The payoff? Leaders who inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and keep their teams laser-focused on real human needs. If you haven’t embraced design thinking as a leadership tool yet, keep at it. It’s a game changer.

Vibe Coding tip for designers/PMs. Claude works great for helping to define requirements even for small projects. I’ve been using it more with Cursor but will also use it in v0 by Vercel. A recent example was around an accessibility demo I created. The requirements Claude helped create got me a properly functioning demo in less prompts.
