Instead, I'm reflecting on an incredible chapter that has come to a close after being impacted by the recent layoffs. It’s been quite a journey. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to take on roles across different departments, work alongside incredibly talented people, build processes, help build teams, and learn more about myself than I ever expected. I’m grateful for the experiences, challenges, and relationships that shaped my career. At the same time, after so many years in the corporate world, I found myself facing burnout. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that change is inevitable, even after years of dedication, growth, and commitment. While difficult, moments like these also create space to reflect, reset, and consider what comes next. While I’m still figuring out exactly what that next chapter looks like, I’m focusing on my well-being and taking some time to recharge. For a long time, my career became a big part of my identity. Now, for the first time in a long time, I have the opportunity to step back and figure out who I am outside of work. I’m thankful for everyone I’ve worked with over the years and for everything this chapter has taught me.

My time at Salesforce was nothing short of transformative for me, personally and professionally. I’m incredibly fortunate to have been part of this world class organization. A huge thank you to the many leaders who had a hand in my development, as well as to all of my teammates who I grew close with over the years. Working alongside all of you was my favorite part of the Salesforce experience. Looking forward, I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity ahead at Datadog. Datadog’s unified observability and security platform gives enterprises total visibility into their technology infrastructure and applications, saving their teams countless hours of troubleshooting and preventing costly downtime. In today’s increasingly complex and AI-forward landscape, these capabilities are more relevant and valuable than ever. And Datadog's heavy emphasis on R&D and track record of anticipating where the market is heading means it's positioned to be a force for years to come. Steven Vu liked thisSteven Vu liked thisWhat an incredible day at the Zurich World Tour🇨🇭 From presenting Agentforce rolling demos and supporting our amazing Swiss team and engaging with customers on the exciting future of AI, to reconnecting with an old friend and former university friend Mina Kaldas , this event was full of memorable moments. I also had the pleasure of meeting wonderful new friend..special shoutout to Chaïmaa Benheddi , one of my favourite memories was our evening stroll through Zurich, sharing stories, plenty of laughs, and the kind of conversation that makes a new connection feel like an old friendship. Moments like these are what make events truly memorable. Another highlight was enjoying an amazing authentic Swiss dinner with the incredible SMB Dach team ,huge thanks to Susan O'Hanlon & Giovanni Crispino for organizing such a fantastic evening. Great food, great company, and conversations that will stay with me for a long time. Zurich itself was a delight, such a charming city and the perfect backdrop for a week of learning, connection, and inspiration. The energy, innovation, and enthusiasm throughout the event were truly inspiring. It’s always amazing to see how technology, ideas, and people come together to create meaningful connections and opportunities. Grateful for the conversations, the learnings, and the new friendships. And the best part🤩? The journey continues I’m off to London 🇬🇧this week for the next World Tour stop and can’t wait to see what it brings! Steven Vu liked thisSteven Vu liked thisAfter 11 wonderful years, I’m leaving Salesforce. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work across the Pardot, Core and Slack teams, build relationships across the ecosystem, and most importantly, work alongside some truly exceptional people. When I reflect on my time here, the overwhelming feeling I have is gratitude. I’m grateful for the friendships that were built along the way. I’m grateful for the leaders, teammates, and mentors who invested in me and helped shape my career. And I’m especially grateful that Salesforce helped me discover my passion for Solution Engineering; a profession that has brought me a lot of joy and helped me grow tremendously over the past decade. It’s hard to put into words what 11 years at one company means. So much of my professional life and so many meaningful relationships are tied to this chapter. As I take a little time before the next adventure, I’m reminded that my kids have absolutely no context for what I do or where I work (other than “the tower with gummy bears”). They just want time together. I'm grounding myself in that perspective and I’m excited to just be dad for the next few weeks. Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey.

Steven Vu liked thisSteven Vu liked thisI grew up in Scarborough being told to be realistic. Nobody meant any harm by it. When you grow up where I did (Every city has a hood), realism feels like love. Dream too big and you just have further to fall. So I learned to shrink my ambitions to a size the room could handle. I'm now building agentic AI for the world's largest enterprises. Agentforce, MCP, multi-agent frameworks, and more. This week marks 5 years at Salesforce. And I've never felt more like myself. The dream was never the problem. The room was. There are two extreme camps forming as I see it. One are people who see AI fail to create a perfect email, and wonder "this AI stuff is such slop!" The other are people who ignore their wife and kids on the weekend to vibe code and post on LinkedIn. If I made you laugh, maybe we can be friends. I digress... 5 years. I don't think about titles first. I think about the unsung heroes who sacrificed so I could walk through doors they never got to open. Non-traditional backgrounds aren't a liability. They're an unfair advantage the industry keeps leaving on the table. The people who grew up navigating systems not designed for them? They're exactly who you want designing AI. Because AI is being built for everyone, whether the builders realize it or not. I'll say the quiet part out loud... there's not too many lady builders. The higher up I go, the less of us. I read a statistic recently that after 35, 50% of women leave Tech. I recently told a recruiter to stop being so strange. I'm not a shiny Pokemon for your weird collection. Can you be normal?? No? I digress... I have some fight left in me. I'll do the usual by working hard (shout out to mom and dad for the Immigrant work ethic) but I am aware that there are ceilings. I've been told so many crazy things over the years, I just treat them as doors. The most pivotal moments of my career came because of men who chose to sponsor me. Put my name in rooms I wasn't in. None of us get anywhere alone, and why it's so important to have allies. Cheers to 5 years Salesforce! 🇨🇦 To every diverse builder who's been the only one in the room, you aren't a shiny Charizard. You're Ash Ketchum. You wanna be the very best like no one ever was. Build loudly...but like, don't ignore your wife and kids for Linkedin.
