Steve Sloka liked thisSteve Sloka liked thisA little over 10 years ago I wrote the design doc for #SPIFFE. I launched it at a talk at GlueCon that year. This was a unique thing as it was an “open source” project that was just a document. There was no code initially. I almost started a company around it and did Heptio instead. I handed it off to Sunil James who started a company and got it into the CNCF. They also wrote the companion reference implementation called SPIRE. This just goes to show I suck at timing. 😂 It is having a moment now. It only took 10 years for the need for workload identity to be obvious with the advent of agents. To mark this I want to get some of the original artifacts out there for anyone that is interested. I am so so so grateful for my time with the AIML org ❤️ If you have the opportunity to join this team, take it! The level of collaboration fostered is incredibly rare, where everyone leads with curiosity instead of ego. On top of that, managing this scale of GPUs and multi-tenancy for training clusters is a unique opportunity. After 3+ years of pursuing my dream of starting a company father time and mother finance have said 'enough', so I have to step away from my role as founder and CEO of Arctir. Devgraph will continue to live on in the beyond capable hands of it's creator, Craig Tracey. If you are poking around with AI in the enterprise, I implore you to check it out. I could write the dead sea scrolls 2 covering the failures, craziness and happiness of the experience but I'll save that for a time when the failure isn't quite so fresh. Suffice to say Craig Tracey did a stellar job despite all of our headwinds and there is no way we could have taken the shot without the support and frankly infinite patience of our respective better halves Grace and Robyn. So as a favor if you know any companies in search of an executive/leader to join their team send them my way. Bonus points given my focus the last few years for early stage startups in the AI or AI/Robotics space.
