Dev agencies are a scam.I hear this a lot. Let me address it. I run a dev agency. And I agree, MOST agencies deserve this reputation. Here’s what bad agencies do: ✘ Promise "4 weeks" then deliver in 4 months ✘ Quote $10K then invoice $35K with "scope changes" ✘ Assign junior devs while selling senior expertise ✘ Build something that breaks the moment you try to scale it ✘ Disappear after launch. No support. No docs. Good luck. I’ve seen this from the inside. I’ve inherited codebases from agencies that charged $50K for code a single dev could have written in 3 weeks. So why do I still run one? Because the problem isn’t the agency model. It’s the incentive structure. Bad agencies profit from confusion. More scope creep = more money.
