A huge thank you to everyone on my team and everyone I had the chance to work with along the way. Working at Roblox meant a lot to me. Video games are the reason I started building software in the first place, so getting to build at a game company felt like coming full circle. I’m excited for what’s ahead, but I’ll certainly miss the people and the product that make Roblox such a special place. Until next time. 🎮

It was an incredible opportunity to speak in front of a stadium of people, something I honestly never thought I could or would do. The team I got to work during the event and in preparation was world class, there’s no way I could have done this without many hours of work from many people. I feel so blessed. AI is a controversial topic and I won’t pretend it’s perfect, but I can say that it enabled me to dream and build things that I otherwise would have never been able to do on my own. It is the tool of the future and I highly recommend Google AI Studio if you are trying to get started with integrating AI into your work or life. One of the most rewarding parts of the experience was seeing that the Privacy Engineering program we’ve been building at Roblox aligns closely with the principles and practices the certification emphasizes. It’s always encouraging when practical, real-world experience reinforces industry best practices. Stefan Tobler liked thisStefan Tobler liked thisAfter a year as a software engineer at Roblox, I will be pursuing a J.D. at New York University School of Law. Since my first internship at Roblox in 2023, working alongside such talented and collaborative colleagues has been a privilege. My work there also focused my curiosity about the law. The advertising infrastructure I built was deeply informed by changing American and international regulatory and privacy regimes: GDPR, COPPA, and direct interventions from state attorneys general. I look forward to exploring trade, administrative, and antitrust law and to gaining new interests in my three years at NYU. Thank you to everyone who supported me in my software career and to those who helped me build the path I'm on now!

Stefan Tobler liked thisStefan Tobler liked thisI spent the weekend putting Fable through its paces—and managed to use 100% of my weekly budget in the process. The biggest takeaway: it is exceptionally good at long-horizon tasks. I could give it a substantial objective, leave it running for a long time, and come back to meaningful progress. In one test, I gave it access to a fresh AWS account and asked it to build a simple web application. Starting from scratch, it wrote the application, provisioned the infrastructure, and got everything running surprisingly quickly. Compared with my experience using Opus, Fable generally required less hand-holding to keep moving forward. I used Ultra Code throughout the weekend, and the ability to spin up multiple sub-agents was a particularly powerful workflow. It allowed Fable to divide larger problems into parallel workstreams while continuing to make progress on the overall task. The main area where it still struggled was product and UX taste. It occasionally made quirky interface decisions that technically worked but did not result in a particularly polished experience. You still need someone with strong UX judgment directing the work. One workflow that helped: Before asking the agent to implement a user experience, ask it to produce a visual mock-up first. Iterate on the mock-up until the direction feels right, and only then have it build the interface. Overall, I came away impressed. Fable feels especially promising for large, open-ended engineering tasks where autonomy and sustained execution matter more than getting every product decision right on the first attempt. In a recent View From The Top conversation at Stanford GSB, Baszucki was asked if he had any regrets after more than 20 years of building Roblox. His reply: “No. Lots of mistakes, lots of learning.” He went on to describe his career as “not just a business journey, it is like a personal journey. I think learning where to put your strengths, learning what you’re not good at, adjusting.” For founders growing a team, a product, or a market, the work of building the company is often the same as the work of rebuilding the leader. On May 16th, I graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Today, I found out that I passed the NBCOT exam! Later this month, I will begin my career as an occupational therapist in the NICU at Medical City Arlington in Texas! I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter and grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way. Thank you to my family, friends, professors, and mentors for encouraging me throughout this journey. I truly could not have done it without y’all! See you soon, Texas! 🤠

goFiles.app is a Pastebin like website, with expanded support for file transfer. The application was created with Django and was temporarily hosted on AWS. My goal for this project was to create a file/text transfer service that required no login and had an expiry time for each upload. Documents were temporary and would be deleted from the storage bucket after they expired. After uploading a document a 6 character URL would appear and the contents of the document could be accessed using that…

My target audience for this application was security researchers using virtual environments to study malware. Logging into a machine infected with malware can be risky, so services like Dropbox and Google Drive shouldn't be used. I wanted to create a way to transfer files and documents from the guest machine to the host machine without opening up the host machine to attack. I ultimately decided to take the website down from the public internet after ethical concerns for what maybe transferred on the website if the wrong group of people found it.

Here’s a pattern I’m seeing more often: More sites. More assessments. More reporting expectations. Same headcount. Security teams are being asked to scale output without scaling structure. So what happens? Assessments become episodic. Reporting takes too long. Prioritization becomes subjective. And leaders spend more time translating risk than reducing it. This isn’t a capability issue. It’s an architecture issue. At some point, physical security has to operate with the same operational discipline as finance and IT. Otherwise it stays in permanent catch-up mode. For security people overseeing medium to large portfolios (20+ sites): What’s currently your biggest bottleneck volume, visibility, or validation? And why do you think this is?
