Steven Strouble liked thisSteven Strouble liked thisYes, I am unemployed like so many others in tech right now, but I am also very, very tired of recruiters cold contacting me about on-site positions in other states. A. It’s 2024—there is no longer any valid reason to say UX cannot be done remotely, which shows the company is out-of-date and/or simply unwilling to change with the times. B. Recruiters could look at a map before contacting people to see if the person could even feasibly fulfill the location of the client but they don’t because they care more about reaching the quota their employer has instituted. C. Along those same lines, recruiters nor these companies seem to care if they waste my time or get my hopes up, which tells me that would only continue if I were to actually apply and get hired. D. I mean, do they really expect me to want to move to another state on my own dime for a temporary position that pays less than $50/hr AND offers no benefits?? Tl;dr: Corporate America sucks.

Someone I know in the UX field almost got sucked into this scam during his job search. Thankfully, he realized it was a scam before they got any money from him. This is how the scam operates: 😲 Someone impersonating a recruiter will contact you from what appears to be a reputable company filling a UX role 💻 The “recruiter” leads you through a fake interview process that seems legit on the surface 💵 They'll make you a fake job offer (or use some other tactic) to get your money and personal information I posted a link about fake job scams in the comment below. 👇
