Consider how each one of these statements applies to you, both personally and professionally: - Don't waste a crisis. - People who are strong build resilience in the face of adversity. - Disruption leads to opportunities. - In times like these, we're vulnerable and we need to seek out ways to change, to get better. The speed at which we do so matters. - We have been headed down a path with experience gaps everywhere. What COVID has done, is accelerate the outcome. My research on stress and coping with elite level athletes identified a two step-approach to removing negative thoughts: 🛑 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 This is involves the athlete either saying stop to themselves or visualising a stop sign (or both) 💬 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 Immediately following the thought stopping, the athlete can engage in positive self-talk, in which the athlete makes a statement, which could be motivational or instructional.

This is my opinion - but I think we have a lawn problem. People landscape their yards as if they live in the Midwest - while we live in one of the driest states in the country. Every year we hear… -water restrictions -high water bills -dead lawns -homeowners frustrated with their HOA (my personal favorite lol) The reality is that Utah is not getting more water - but more and more people move to the state ( 🙈 ) I think in the next 10 years we’ll see: -Less grass where it ins’t used -More functional spaces -Smarter Irrigation -Artificial turf in high traffic areas (you know I had to throw this in 😎 ) -Native plants meant for desert climates So - how would a contractor or new entrepreneur handle this? Be intentional about design. If you have a strip of lawn that’s only there because “that’s how it’s always been” - maybe it’s time to rethink it. We’re starting to see homeowners ask “what looks good?” Or “what would you do?” There is a shift happening. The best landscapes of the future won’t be the greenest... but they will be the smartest. Anyone think differently?

𝗡𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲” Wrestling coach Keelon Jimison is teaching this young athlete far more than wrestling. At first, his words might sound tough, but listen closely to how he delivers them. He shows belief, encouragement, and genuine compassion. He tells the young wrestler: “You got it. I believe in you, baby. Come on. You’re tough. It’s up there.” (Pointing to the wrestler’s head.) You’re tougher than anybody in the world.” Rather than allowing the athlete to stop when things became difficult, he helped him discover that he was capable of just a little bit more. That moment matters. The next time this young wrestler feels exhausted or wants to give up, he will remember that he has more to give than he first thought. This is how resilience is developed, not by avoiding discomfort, but by learning that our perceived limits are often not our actual limits. Great coaches don't just build better athletes. They build stronger, more resilient people. As Dr. Becky Kennedy said that getting used to “being comfortable with being uncomfortable is hard, but also very important.” Dr Kennedy also said: “Being resilient doesn’t feel it all, it feels messy. Resilience and success come from the length of time you can tolerate being in this space (learning space). The longer you can tolerate being here the more you will ride this.” As someone who has trained in another combat sport, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, for more than nine years, I know this feeling all too well. There are moments when you genuinely believe you have nothing left to give. Then you find a little bit more. Over time, you begin to realise that your mind often reaches its limit before your body does. Each experience of pushing through discomfort expands your confidence and changes what you believe you're capable of. That is how resilience is built, not in moments of comfort, but by repeatedly discovering that you can keep going when you thought you couldn't. Coaches such as Coach Jimison play such a vital role in helping us believe we can do more than we thought we could, through encouragement and reassurance. (🎥: mugzybulljunk)

Skyler Raymond liked thisSkyler Raymond liked thisI recently found my road bike training log from when I was 15. Bike tech and training have come a LONG way since then, but miles are still king. I have no doubt 15 y/o me on that old heavy bike would drop me in a head to head race today - not even close. All of the many advancements in cycling can only enhance the actual work I put in, they can't replace it. I was definitely not at 500 miles by mid April this year haha. Miles logged > better bike Miles logged > dialed nutrition Miles logged > ancillary tech Miles logged > AI coach Add those together and you're looking really good. AI adopters today are in a unique spot: we logged thousands of metaphorical miles before the tools showed up. Now, we have both. If I ask Claude to draft a revenue memo, I have enough experience and judgment to tighten it up. Engineers who could already code are the ones getting the most out of AI. There's a reason I still can't force merge PRs - I have absolutely no idea what is happening under the hood, or what I'd break with my blind trust in Claude code haha. So what happens when a it's-my-first-job engineer only knows how to code with AI? Maybe it matters, maybe it doesn't. The misses on our team often come from not applying the appropriate judgement to an AI-leveraged output. Logging the miles and leveraging AI don't need to be mutually exclusive, but I've found I need to be intentional.

Two of best players at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States, Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland, played together at Borussia Dortmund and formed a great friendship. When Jude Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund at just 17 years of age, and played first team football. Erling Haaland looked after him on the pitch, and helped him settle in off the pitch. This weekend, they'll meet again in the quarter-finals. Both are fiercely competitive, relentlessly driven, and will give everything for England and Norway, respectively. But moments like these remind us that elite performance and genuine respect can coexist. Rivalries last 90 minutes (or 120 minutes); but character lasts much longer. Hopefully, when the final whistle blows, they'll shake hands and embrace with the same respect that has defined their friendship over the years. (🎥: futt.ink)

Skyler Raymond liked thisSkyler Raymond liked this“Boss, it’s his shoulder” It’s great to see the England players celebrating the win in the changing rooms after a hard fought victory over Mexico. It's clear the players have built a strong relationship with Thomas Tuchel, with Declan Rice and John Stones feeling comfortable enough to jokingly feign an injury to him. Tuchel’s reaction is great and he took it in the manner the players intended. While it may seem like a small moment, it highlights the close bond between the squad and coaching staff. After a few intense days and a tough match, moments like these help relieve the pressure, bring plenty of laughter, and strengthen the togetherness within the group. They may be brief, but they're incredibly important for bringing the stress levels down and allowing players to unwind. Indeed, Reardon at al. (2019) suggested that coaches should encourage athlete to celebrate their achievements, because it promotes mental health. The players definitely deserved to celebrate their performance.
