Shyam Prakash Jain shared thisAfter an incredible 7-year journey, today I close a very special chapter of my career. When I joined Discover/Capital One in 2019, I came with aspirations to learn and grow. Looking back today, I leave with so much more than professional experience—I leave with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, invaluable lessons, and immense gratitude. Over these years, I had the privilege of working on challenging problems, building innovative solutions, mentoring amazing engineers, and collaborating with some of the brightest minds I've ever met. Every project, every success, and even every challenge helped shape me into a better engineer and a better person. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my leaders Sheila Lodhia Anitha Yeddula, Mamta Surve, George Kraniotis Lakshmi Rupanagunta Brad Pritikin and many others who believed in me, trusted me with opportunities, and continuously encouraged me to grow. Your mentorship and leadership have had a lasting impact on my career. While saying goodbye is never easy, To be honest, it still hasn't fully sunk in. It feels a little surreal. I am equally excited to begin a new chapter and embrace new challenges, new opportunities, and new experiences. Growth often begins where comfort ends, and I'm looking forward to what lies ahead. Words can't describe how collaborative our culture is. I've also been learning about myself in a good way. I don't feel pressure when I don't know something. I can ask a question and get the answer. So my imposter syndrome is fading away. Getting into a new role at a new company takes time. Following my own advice: Be patient and keep learning. Things will fall into place.

Grateful - for the opportunity to work with such extraordinary people. I truly felt like I was a part of a team that made a positive difference to people's lives. Growth - starting right out of college meant that I had much to learn. With hard work and amazing mentors I was able to navigate career growth and find my footing as a technical anchor. Projects - reminiscing about past projects reminded me of all the excitement that came after spending time to craft, perfect, and deliver so many great mobile experiences. Change - life is change, and that applies to Discover too. Navigating one of the largest financial mergers since 2009 and AI has taught how me to stay agile and reinforce how important continuous learning really is. Thankful - Thank you Discover and Capital One for such an amazing 8 years. 🧡

If I've learned anything over the past few months, it's that today's job market is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁. There were moments of excitement, moments of doubt, and probably enough resume edits to qualify as a part-time job. But sometimes the plot twist turns out even better than you imagined. I'm incredibly excited to share that I've joined 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! I'll be supporting the Global Products organization, helping bring employees together through programs that inspire innovation, collaboration, and community impact. If you've worked with me before, you know I get excited anytime I get to bring people together. From ShadowTraffic, into MySQL, into Kafka using Source Connector (& a SMT), filtered, packaged & sinked into REDIS using Kafka Sink Connector (& another SMT) Overview 1. We start by first generating records using Shadowtraffic. 2. Insert the records created into a MySQL datastore. 3. We then utilise Kafka Connect Source Connector with a custom SMT to consume the records from our MySQL datastore, filtering out specific records, after adding a custom Message Key (not based on a column) as we publish onto specified Apache Kafka topic. 4. From here we use a Kafka Connect Sink Connector, again with a custom SMT function to filter our records, package (specified columns) into a Key/Value JSON payload into a REDIS datastore.
