Ryan Caldwell shared thisWhat a great conversation at Financial Data Exchange with Dominic Venturo about how we can continue to push the financial industry to be a greater force for good. When we put the right financial tools and capabilities in consumers’ hands, our communities will thrive right along with the Banks that serve them. This is how we empower the world to be financially strong. #buildMX

Ryan Caldwell reacted on thisRyan Caldwell reacted on thisYesterday at American Banker's DIGITAL BANKING, we had the opportunity to join Hancock Whitney for an engaging conversation about what it really takes to modernize a historic financial institution. One theme stood out above all else: digital transformation isn't just a technology initiative, it's a company transformation. Hancock Whitney shared how embracing a mobile-first strategy became essential to serving the next generation of customers, the importance of championing change every day to bring the organization along, and why partnering with MX helped accelerate innovation while the bank focused on what it does best. Their story is a reminder that lasting transformation requires more than the right technology. It takes leadership, alignment, and a shared commitment to creating better financial experiences. A big thank you to the Hancock Whitney team for sharing their journey and to everyone who joined the discussion. We're excited to continue partnering with financial institutions that are building the future of banking.

Ryan Caldwell liked thisRyan Caldwell liked thisNice surprise last night — Alex Johnson and Simon Taylor talking about Primitive on a Fintech Takes podcast with a Fintech Brainfood crossover. A story that stuck: Simon described being asked by the board of a major asset manager how to protect their IP as AI moves deeper into their workflows. Alex built on it — forward-deployed engineers from the big AI labs aren't sitting inside banks out of goodwill. They're there because they don't have those workflows or that data yet — and every institution has to decide for itself what that's worth trading away. Exactly why we think control has to sit with the bank, not the vendor. Thanks to Alex and Simon for the thoughtful conversation — link to the full episode in the comments below.

Ryan Caldwell reacted on thisRyan Caldwell reacted on thisAfter 11 years with MX, I've learned an incredible amount about what it takes to support financial institutions through complex API integrations — from onboarding through the full production lifecycle, and more recently, building AI-driven tools to make that support faster and more proactive. Part of why I've stayed this long is MX's mission to empower the world to be financially strong, and the values behind it — a real bias toward execution and accountability, a belief in iterating fast and improving constantly, and a culture that expects radical honesty over ego. Those aren't just words on a page to me; they've shaped how I approach my own work every day and they have helped guide me in my personal life over the past decade. I recently learned that my current role will be discontinued in the coming months, and I'm now exploring what's next. My first choice would be to continue that journey within MX. If your team is hiring for something in solutions consulting, technical account management, integration, program management, or documentation/training — or if you think my background could be a fit somewhere I haven't thought of — I'd love to talk. I know this company well, I care about the work, and I'd welcome the chance to keep contributing in a new capacity. I'm also open to opportunities outside MX in these same areas, along with adjacent roles like technical writing and support training. If you're hiring, know someone who is, or just want to connect, I'd appreciate hearing from you. And to everyone I've worked with over the years — thank you for shaping so much of what I know. Looking forward to whatever comes next. MX

Balancing graduate school while working full-time wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth the effort. Throughout this journey, I expanded my knowledge of enterprise architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data management, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and growing, and I’m excited to apply these new skills to solving complex technology challenges and delivering innovative solutions. Thank you to my family, friends, colleagues, and professors for your encouragement and support throughout this journey. #PurdueGlobal #EnterpriseArchitecture #TechnologyLeadership #CloudComputing #Cybersecurity #AI

Ryan Caldwell reacted on thisRyan Caldwell reacted on this‼️ Its a huge day for MX and our partners‼️ Today, we announce a first of its kind product - a powerful, capable, personal, actionable, embedded, white labeled AI for the end users of Financial Institutions and Fintechs, built on MX data. For years, banks and credit unions have been handed an impossible balancing act. Stay compliant. Protect every customer. Be a good actor in a heavily regulated industry. And at the same time, out-compete other institutions, fast-moving new competition, and big tech companies that would happily disintermediate the customer relationship you spent decades earning. The way consumers want to interact with their money is more different now than it has ever been. And the risk of that relationship being disintermediated to the direct to consumer AI is real, and it's significant. The best way for financial institutions to meet that moment is to bring these AI experiences into the places people already do their banking. That's what MX's new AI Assistant does. It's an AI financial assistant that lives inside your online and mobile banking experience, grounded in your customers' real financial data. Open banking, enriched transaction data, and AI working as one, inside the experience your customers already trust. No company is better positioned to deliver this. We already work with 1,500 financial institutions across the US and Canada. We hold both the data inside the bank and the externally connected data through open banking. And we have more than 15+ years of experience putting personal finance in front of tens of millions of people. Customer can even take real action on their finances inside the product. MX's mission is to empower the world to be financially strong, and this is the next step toward it. The opportunity in front of financial institutions right now is unprecedented. And we made it easy. If you're already an MX customer, getting live with this new product is remarkably simple. The data foundation is already there. If you lead a bank, credit union, or fintech and want to see it, reach out to me. #MX #fintech #banking #openbanking #AI https://lnkd.in/gzdc6SVB

Ryan Caldwell liked thisRyan Caldwell liked thisWhenever I find myself reflecting on my career, I’m always brought back to the incredible people I’ve had the opportunity to work with. Ryan Caldwell is unequivocally one of them. It was great to spend some time with Ryan at StartFest today talking about the early days of MX, the foundational decisions that shaped the company, and the values that continue to influence how they build and who they choose to work with. One thing I’ve always respected about Ryan is how intentional he’s been, not just with the business, but with the people around him. Investors, team members, partners, customers, he’s always understood that great companies are built by great people. We also had the chance to talk about MX’s partnership with Utah legend Derek White and Primitive, the growing role of AI agents in banking and fintech, and the reality that even during periods of tremendous growth, life still happens. Challenges show up, priorities shift, and having the right people around you can make all the difference. Thank you to StartFest for creating a space for these conversations. If there was one theme that stood out, it’s that building with empathy, intention, and integrity isn’t separate from building a successful company - it’s often the reason success happens in the first place. … #StartFest #UtahTech #UtahElevated #Fintech #Leadership #Founders #BuildWithIntention #AI #MXTechnologies Silicon Slopes Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development

New feature shipped: Maker-Checker for Payments via Acme Technology's APIs. Why? The four-eyes principle -- no single user can both create and approve a payment. A Maker submits the payment, a Checker (separate API key, separate authorization) approves or rejects before funds move. What we built 1. Same endpoints. Same request body. Existing integrations barely change -- you just handle a new PENDING_APPROVAL status. 2. Configurable approval policy groups -- set which accounts require approval, which API keys can approve, and define thresholds by currency and amount. 3. Full webhook coverage: pending-approval, approved, rejected, expired. 4. Rejection reasons, expiry windows, and a complete audit trail via the review object on every payment. This is table stakes for enterprise treasury and compliance teams. If you're moving money programmatically at scale, you need operational controls baked into the API -- not bolted on via a dashboard. Docs are live: https://lnkd.in/grdU3V_B We're shipping fast at Acme Technology. More coming. Kudos to the team for pushing this out thoughtfully!

One thing I have learned building in payments is that most merchants believe they own their customer relationships, but the reality is often more complicated once card data is involved. When payment credentials live entirely inside a processor’s system, control quietly shifts away from the business. Switching providers becomes painful, negotiating better economics feels risky, and even simple changes start to depend on someone else’s infrastructure instead of your own. I have seen strong businesses reach real scale and still feel boxed in, not because their product was lacking, but because their payment stack was designed in a way that locked them in early. A neutral card vault flips that dynamic. When credentials live in infrastructure built for the merchant, providers become interchangeable and payments start working as a tool instead of a constraint. That belief is core to how we think about Ozura and the infrastructure we are building.

Before we wrote a line of code at Payman for banking, we talked to community banks. Not to pitch. To listen. We sat with branch managers, watched tellers process wires, and asked CTOs what their actual day looks like. Not the conference version. The real one. Here's what we heard over and over: "We know AI is coming. We just don't know how to do it without breaking something." "Our core vendor says they're adding AI. But they've been saying that for two years." "Chase has it. The neobanks have it. Our customers are starting to ask why we don't." "I have three people in IT. I can't take on a 6-month integration project." None of them said "we need a smarter chatbot." None of them asked about large language models or agentic architectures. They asked: can my customers actually do their banking through this thing? And can I control it when the examiner shows up? That's what shaped everything we built. Not "what's the most impressive AI demo we can show at a conference." But "what does a 3-person IT team at a $500M bank actually need to deploy and control?" Every decision we've made since comes back to those conversations. Physical data isolation, because that's what the examiner expects. Policy engines that enforce hard limits, because "the AI tries to follow the rules" isn't an answer. Deployment in weeks, because these teams can't afford quarters. The best product decisions I've made didn't come from our roadmap. They came from sitting in a branch and watching someone process a wire transfer with a PDF and a phone call.
