“I worked with Ryan when he was the Product Manager - Technical (PM-T) on our Whole Foods Buying team. He's got this amazing ability to bridge the gap between business needs and tech solutions, combining strong business acumen with a solid understanding of technical concepts. Ryan tackles complex projects through his deep-dives, talks with all stakeholders, and ability to break them down into smaller doable chunks to make deliverable faster and less overwhelming. His documentations are audience-aware and data-driven catering to diverse stakeholders. He provides business specific insights during tech design meetings ensuring technical solutions align with business objectives. Ryan is customer obsessed -- consistently seeking and incorporating customer feedback into actionable requirements, and combined with his business expertise, he helps deliver solutions that address customer needs. Working with Ryan has been great - he's definitely raised the bar for what I expect from a PM-T. Here are couple of anecdotes which I want to share to sum it all up. ### Anecdotes ##### Anecdote #1: DC Out-of-stock (OOS) I worked with Ryan on the DC OOS and Substitution project. He identified a critical business need around substituting out-of-stock items at distribution centers, removing the regressive manual steps of identifying OOS items before placing orders. Ryan methodically broke down the project into manageable phases, worked with us to design the workflow for OOS substitutions and successfully piloted the feature in one store then ramped up to more stores with time. He kept things business-focused when he needed to, but involved engineers to chime in on the technical details. What stood out was his handling of a post-launch catalog-related issue. Rather than pushing forward, he carefully documented the findings, coordinated with business teams to address the root causes, and got us back on track for a successful re-launch. Ryan commits to quality and navigates setbacks while maintaining stakeholder trust and project momentum. ##### Anecdote #2: MFC Micro Fulfillment Center ordering project is another great example -- an extremely complex project, involving an end-to-end automated store replenishment workflow on a very aggresive deadline. I wasn't directly involved, but what really stood out was the amount of research and documentation Ryan did for the problem space to orchestrate the ordering workflow while also communicating risks to everyone involved. We hit a snag post lauch when some of the risks Ryan had flagged caused a feature roll-back. Ryan teamed up with the engineers to come up with a semi-automated solution to keep things moving. At the same time, he was already thinking ahead, emphasising a long-term fix to get the fully automated buying feature back on track. It shows how Ryan can handle complex projects, anticipate problems, and come up with creative solutions when things don't go as planned.”
