Steph — I have no doubt that you are going to be exceptionally successful at whatever comes next on your career path!.. I know that I don’t need to tell (or remind) anyone that you have ever collaborated with that you are exceptionally skilled, a strong project manager, passionate, and a services leader who cares deeply about the service outcomes of everyone you interact with. Regis Bane liked thisThere are countless moments over the course of our lives that redirect us on our respective paths. We may not notice in that moment, but as we grow and reflect the impact becomes obvious. One of the most impactful moments of my life came during my first day on campus at the University of Southern Indiana. Registering for classes for the first time is daunting. It’s competitive, you’re in unfamiliar surroundings, you know few people, and so on. Tim Mahoney made a career out of helping students find their way. His office was located in the University Center, which is the main building where students had to register. He didn’t have to do this, but every year as students showed up en masse to register for classes, Tim would step out of his office and personally help whatever students he could, one by one. I was fortunate to be one of those students. Tim was a professor and an advisor, who showed up daily as a servant to others with a superb ability to listen. Tim became my advisor that day and remained as such throughout my college experience and well into my post college life. While this was my personal experience, he did that with many students every year, for more than 30 years! An incredible legacy built through his commitment to service of others! Tim passed away peacefully earlier this week. I had the opportunity to share my gratitude over the years and he knew my strong belief that I would not be where I am today without his impact. Two things… 1. Who made an impact and perhaps redirected you? Are they aware of their impact? 2. Be like Tim. Build a legacy of attentiveness and caring. Make a lasting impact on your fellow humans and in turn help make the world a better place. Thank you Tim. Thank you. #legacy #mentorship #leadership

It's that enthusiasm that inspires the Marketplace 100, our annual ranking of the largest consumer-facing marketplace startups and private companies. Now in its fourth year, and compiled by Olivia Moore and Zach Cohen, the 2023 edition reveals some of the most interesting takeaways to date about consumer behavior and marketplace business models. The list features nearly three dozen newcomers, including marketplaces for refurbished electronics, precious metals, and sustainably raised meat. Consumers sought out both vetted vacation villas and used car parts. And perhaps less surprisingly in a virus-weary world, there's a lot of money flowing into both live events and therapy—but not in the way you might think. A few other interesting trends from this year's Marketplace 100: Online shopping has returned to pre-pandemic levels. But the way we shop is much, much different. The fastest growing marketplace category? It's not pets, concerts, or even food. It's mental health. The latest wave of therapy apps are helping consumers navigate the hassle of insurance. Concerts and live events are back: Ticketing companies are outperforming already impressive 2022 numbers. (Thank you, Harry Styles.) Marketplaces are getting opinionated. We're seeing a shift from "anyone can list" platforms like eBay and Amazon to companies that carefully curate supply.
