Friday’s groundbreaking on Micron’s New York megafab marked a major milestone for Micron, Upstate New York, and the United States semiconductor industry. Micron’s leading-edge memory manufacturing complex in Clay, New York will be the largest semiconductor facility in the United States as we invest $100 billion over the next 20 years. This investment will help Micron serve a growing memory market and expand DRAM production in the United States. Memory is essential to product performance from the datacenter to the edge, and Micron provides the highest-performance and most power-efficient memory for AI and other markets. Micron’s investment represents the largest private investment in New York state history and will bolster the regional economy for generations, providing tens of thousands of jobs and education opportunities, and will strengthen the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem. It was an honor to stand alongside Micron colleagues, federal, state and local government officials, customers, suppliers, educators, and other partners to celebrate the start and promise of this project. I’m grateful for the efforts of the Micron team, government officials, and other partners to advance Micron’s leading-edge investments.
