Built a working AI agent prototype in 5 days. The spec came first, before any code. The problem statement is something I’ve been noticing for a while: Opportunity stages and entry/exit criteria usually live in a forgotten document. Because stages aren't governed, pipeline quality suffers. Better forecasting tools don't fix bad data. Deal Stage Coach is a frontier LLM overlay on top of your GTM systems. It ingests a Salesforce export (or API) and evaluates every deal against a guided-selling methodology. Stage verdict, health score, active risk signals, rep-facing playbook. The manager view pre-builds a 1:1 coaching agenda by rep: deals ranked by health risk, a coaching question per deal. No prep. The build: 1. Spec: I worked with Claude to map every stage criterion, health score logic, verdict design, and edge case. Then handed it to Claude Code to build v0.1. 2. Claude nailed it over the weekend. 3. Iteration to build a prototype of the end-state: 4 days. Testing the UI, refining the rules engine and the manager view, building a 53-deal mock pipeline across 8 reps, tracking down a health scoring bug on child deals that took two sessions. The stack: Next.js and TypeScript, built entirely with Claude Code. What I learned: Spec-driven development with AI works. The spec is the product thinking. Claude can build to a well-written spec faster than most engineering teams. A vague brief produces a vague product - that's probably always been true. AI just makes the gap visible immediately. The hard part is still the same: Deciding what to build and why is still on you. AI just makes a vague answer visible faster. One thing I underestimated: the demo video took longer than the prototype itself. Turns out showing the work is its own kind of work.
