We got into it, what design actually means, what it takes to commit to the craft, and why the people who truly give a shit about the work keep showing up even while the system feels like it’s on fire. Real designers don’t just drag rectangles around a screen and call it innovation. We study. We obsess. We iterate. We care, probably more than is healthy, about the work, the thinking, the impact. And right now in a market flooded with noise, shortcuts, and “strategy” being treated like a decorative afterthought, the people who are still committed to the craft deserve a damn spotlight. So yeah. This one’s a little rage. A little glitter. A little love letter to the designers who are still in the arena, covered in pixels, refusing to half-ass the work. It's disheartening to see Meta appoint someone as their AI bias advisor who is anti-DEI and anti-LGBTQ+, and who has promoted anti-trans and anti-diversity misinformation. With so many legitimate experts better suited for this role, Meta chose someone whose views are antithetical to what they claim to be trying to achieve. This move will likely perpetuate the stereotypes and discrimination that people like me, my colleagues, and large portions of our diverse population face all too often. I agree: Perhaps it's time we reassess our media buys and invest more dollars in other channels. That is if we want our brands to stay relevant and future-proof.

Stop trying to sponsor the biggest streamer on Twitch... or any other platform for that matter. You probably don't have the budget, and honestly, the ROI usually sucks. The smart money is in the mid-tier. The Math: → Macro Influencer: High cost, broad audience, low trust. → Micro Influencer: Low cost, niche audience, cult-like trust. My strategy is simple... build a solid group of micro-influencers. It’s scrappy. It’s tedious to manage (unless you hire me 😜). But it works. A thousand true fans beat a million passive viewers. Have you tested micro-influencers yet?
