Why I Give - To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required
As I reflect on my educational and career journey I look back and realize how blessed I am. I also often reflect on the values instilled in me by my parents and I am reminded of the timeless adage: “To whom much is given, much is required.” These words resonate deeply, I recognize my blessings and respond with generosity. Wednesday March 25 is the Day of Giving at my alma mater NC State. As I reflect today, I want to share why I give, drawing inspiration from my family, education, and the spirit of giving back.
My parents' actions taught me that generosity transcends material wealth. It’s about compassion, empathy, and making a positive impact on the lives of those around us. One of the other things they instilled in me is that education is a powerful tool, one that empowers individuals and transforms families and communities. I was blessed to be able to attend and graduate from a great university. That degree set me up for success and it is the reason I am where I am today. While I was at EY, I was challenged by a friend, fellow partner at the firm and wolfpack alum,
Mike Constantino, to give back. I was fortunate enough to be able to endow a scholarship at NC State for undergraduate accounting students.
Pictured here is the recipient of this year’s scholarship
Ola Mohammed. She is a fantastic student and leader. When we invest in education, we create a ripple effect. Scholarships, like the Wentz Family Scholarship Endowment at the NCSU Poole College of Management, provide deserving students with opportunities they might not otherwise have. These graduates go on to shape industries, lead organizations, and drive innovation. By supporting education, we contribute to a brighter future for all.
The NC State Day of Giving is more than a date on the calendar, it’s a call to action. On this day, we come together as a community, combining our resources to make a collective impact. Whether it’s your time or money, I would just ask you to give somewhere. Each act of kindness, every scholarship awarded, and every moment spent serving others contributes to a better world. Give generously, knowing that our blessings comes with a responsibility to uplift, empower, and inspire. To whom much is given, much is required.
Thanks
