Peter Gillam, CSP, MBA shared thisHow you support someone who’s struggling sets the tone for everything you lead. Early in my career, I showed up to work carrying more than work. Personal issues. Heavy ones. My manager noticed before I even said a word. She saw it on my face. She saw it in my posture. What came next caught me off guard. 🥹 She looked at me. She hugged me. Then she said, “PJ, I know you’re going through a lot right now. Take the day. We’ll figure this out tomorrow.” The relief was immediate. My shoulders dropped. My breathing slowed. The gift she gave me went beyond time off. She gave me dignity. She gave me safety. She gave me permission to be human. I never forgot that moment. Because support in moments like that does more than help someone recover. It teaches them how to lead others when the roles reverse. That moment shaped how I show up. That moment shaped how I lead. #empathymatters #leadership #compassion

Preparation was there. Results? Meh... 🫤 I remember sitting in my car after work thinking, “What am I missing?” What I learned later changed everything. A tough season doesn’t define you. What you learn from it does. Here’s the quiet work tough seasons demand: 💎 Watch the tape honestly (Maybe journal or interview people you trust) 💎 Own your gaps without excuses 💎 Adjust your fundamentals 💎 Stay in the fight when momentum isn’t on your side The Ravens will regroup. Skills will open doors early on, but relationships open doors at senior levels. Not surface-level connections, but genuine relationships built on trust, credibility, and consistency. Many of the biggest opportunities happen when someone speaks your name in a room you’re not in. That moment is rarely accidental. It’s the result of how you’ve shown up over time, how you lead, how you deliver, and how you treat people when there’s nothing to gain. Strong relationships become your reputation in motion. They create access you can’t manufacture and visibility you can’t buy. A few key points to remember: 1. Your work gets you noticed, but your relationships get you remembered. People advocate for those they trust and respect, not just those who perform well. 2. Credibility travels faster than your résumé. A trusted voice vouching for you carries more weight than anything you write about yourself. 3. Doors open when the right people know your value. Often, opportunities come from rooms you never knew existed. 4. Relationship-building is a long game. Consistency, integrity, and showing up for others matter more than any quick networking tactic. Continue investing in real relationships. They shape your trajectory, expand your influence, and create opportunities long before you ever hear about them. And while I’m incredibly proud of this achievement, I’ve learned that the strongest safety cultures don’t celebrate the lagging indicator metrics. We celebrate because of the thousands of moments that made this possible. The operator who paused to ask a question. The associate who spoke up when something didn’t seem right. The supervisor who took time to coach instead of rushing. The facilities technician who fixed the problem before it became an incident. The colleague who checked in on a teammate. The leader who chose to listen. Safety culture is built through small, consistent actions repeated every day. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of helping our Bothell associates embrace continuous improvement, strengthen our speak-up culture, participate in risk reduction efforts, challenge one another respectfully, and demonstrate that EHS is not a department—it’s a shared responsibility. I’m grateful: * To our associates, for caring enough to stop, think, and speak up. * To our supervisors and people leaders, for reinforcing that production and safety (and quality!) go hand in hand. * To our site leadership team, for visible commitment and willingness to invest in improvement. * To my incredible EHS team and cross-functional leaders in Bothell, who continue to ask, “Is there a better way?” The milestone matters. But the real goal is ensuring that every person who comes through our doors returns home safely to the people and places that matter most to them. Today we celebrate… And then we’ll get back to work: learning, improving, and continuing the journey toward a world-class safety culture. 💜 🫶 365 days down. Many more to go…

It gives the listener time to digest, but it also gives the speaker time to stay with themselves. Nervous speakers often fill every gap because silence feels uncomfortable. Confident speakers can allow silence because they do not experience the empty moment as a threat. In that sense, a pause is not empty. It is a small act of self-respect.

It belongs to our associates who speak up when something doesn’t look right. It belongs to our supervisors and people leaders who make safety part of everyday conversations. It belongs to our cross-functional partners in Operations, Facilities, Quality, Logistics, R&D, Supply Chain, and beyond who continue to prove that EHS is most effective when it’s embedded into how we run the business. And it belongs to an incredible EHS team whose passion, expertise, and commitment inspire me every day. Thank you to Ingo Beck and Michael DeClue for believing in the vision, supporting the work, and consistently demonstrating that safety is a leadership priority. This recognition would not have been possible without leaders who empower teams, remove barriers, and champion continuous improvement. What makes this award meaningful is the improved performance, improved culture, and improved engagement—all at the same time. That’s much harder to achieve than any single metric. The best recognition isn’t for being perfect. It’s for continuously improving. 💜 The journey isn’t finished. We still have risks to reduce, systems to strengthen, and opportunities to learn. But moments like this remind me how much can be accomplished when people unite around a shared purpose. Thank you to everyone at Cepheid Bothell who contributed to this achievement, and thank you to the Danaher Corporation EHS community for continuously challenging us to improve. I also want to recognize Lana Karpuk, Laura, and Molly, who joined me yesterday to discuss forging strategic partnerships in EHS. Standing alongside leaders who understand that influence is built through trust, communication, and winning as a team was a fitting reminder of what made this award possible in the first place. The future belongs to those who are willing to ask: “Is there a better way?”

Or Athens. ➟ It often doesn’t make sense to those building a brand, climbing a ladder or proving their worth. But Paul says God chose the foolish. The weak. Things that are not to bring to nothing the things that are. ➟ Why? So that no human might boast before God. "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." (1 Cor. 1:31) The cross strips every credential. Every title. It levels the room entirely. But here's the paradox. ➟ The cross that strips your boasting gives you everything. Redemption. Righteousness. Sanctification. Not earned. Not achieved. Given. Because of Christ. You're not in Christ because of what you brought to the cross. You're in Christ because of what HE brought to it. "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Cor 1:18) Kingdom leaders don't lead from status. They lead from where the ground is level. The cross. Have a blessed Lord's Day! I learned a lot from a talented group of people, including how a great product earns its place with customers. I'm grateful for my time there. Hanover Park is the AI-native fund administrator, vertically integrating fund administration, portfolio management, and the LP experience into one system. The infrastructure behind private markets has been stuck in the past for decades. We're building what comes next. Only a week in, and this team is the real deal. They're taking on a genuinely hard problem and going full speed at it. Onward. 🚀

Surgeries, treatments, and endless hours lying flat left me drained and discouraged. Then God brought me to passages of Scripture that began to change my perspective: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4) “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances…” (Philippians 4:11) I discovered joy isn’t something you wait for when life gets better. It’s something you choose, even when life hurts. A lot of us think joy will come when our circumstances finally change. When the pain stops. When the pressure lifts. When the relationship gets better. When the future feels secure. But biblical joy doesn’t rise and fall with the market, the news, your health, or what other people think. Joy is rooted in something far deeper: the unchanging love of God. And that’s my prayer for you. Not that every circumstance changes overnight, but that you discover the freedom of choosing joy right in the middle of the struggle. Because God’s love has not failed you, and it never will. 🚨 OSHA Compliance Update OSHA has released a new required workplace poster titled “OSHA Cares.” The poster informs workers about their rights under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. All workplaces covered by federal OSHA are required to display the appropriate labor law posters. Many facilities use consolidated posters purchased from distributors that combine federal, state, and local requirements. However, when new posters are issued, they may not yet be included in existing purchased versions. If your current poster set does not include the “OSHA Cares” notice, employers should download and print the poster directly from OSHA and display it alongside existing postings until updated versions are available.
