Pete Christothoulou shared thisEnterprise teams are taxed with 100s of disparate, mundane tasks across a variety of silos that should be automated away. Yet I continue to see AI "bells and whistles" shipping from start-ups and incumbents lacking real-world utility. Sure .... they seem interesting on the surface, but are these new AI features *really* solving a deep pain? Do they eliminate work .... or create more work? As AI evolves (and more companies chase the market), it will inevitably give rise to even more silos, data, and distractions, placing even greater demands on employee time and attention. The Enterprise doesn't need iterative improvements or shallow AI companions that gauge the mood of a meeting, generically recap a conversation, compose a chat message, or summarize a Slack channel. It needs a revolution that frees them to grow. 🚀

Pete Christothoulou liked thisPete Christothoulou liked thisJenner & Block is now a Laurel customer. Jenner is 100+ years old. They've argued some of the most consequential cases in American history. They have every excuse to say "the way we've always done it works fine." Instead, their leadership treated enterprise-grade, AI-native time & compliance as a strategic initiative — one that benefits every stakeholder: the lawyers, the firm, and most importantly, their clients. They understood early what the rest of the market is just waking up to: the hours attorneys work but never capture aren't a cost of doing business. They're source-of-truth work data — and the largest untapped asset on the firm's balance sheet. Honored to be your partner.

Pete Christothoulou liked thisSome stories stay with you because they reveal what humans are capable of when everything is on the line. My dear friend Matt Wilsey built an entire company — Grace Science, LLC — to save his daughter Grace who was born with NGLY1 Deficiency, an ultra-rare disease with no existing treatment. He's a father who refused to accept there was nothing he could do... so he dedicated his life to make a cure.... And he did. After 16 years of dedication, Matt and his team of top scientists and researchers created GS-100, a gene therapy that has now treated ten children. Matt's own daughter Grace was one of them. I still remember when Matt told me that when Grace was a baby, the doctors told him she wouldn't make it past age 5 with this deficiency. No cure, no treatments, no existing support infrastructure. But Grace, against all odds, turned 16 this year. And post treatment, Grace's hands shake less. She's more attentive. She understands more every day. Matt still hopes to hear her say a word and when I saw her last week, she looked at me with her beautiful smile and I just felt in my heart what a miracle she is. And yet — at the moment they're closest to a breakthrough for all those suffering from this rare disease — they've hit a wall. Seven doses remain. But no facility to make more. FDA pathways designed for ultra-rare diseases don't fit their situation. Dozens of families are still waiting. Matt is one of the most committed, passionate, loving people I know. Watching him fight for Grace — and for every child like her — is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Please read the full story in STAT and share it widely. If you know someone in FDA policy, biotech manufacturing, or rare disease advocacy, tag them below — who in your network might be able to help move this forward to let Matt and his Grace Science team save more lives?Pete Christothoulou liked thisFor the last 16 years, my life has revolved around one question: how do we get a working treatment to kids with NGLY1 Deficiency before it’s too late for them, including my own daughter, Grace. This STAT article captures what that fight has actually looked like, including the parts most people never see. My wife Kristen and I spend a lot of our time watching for small signs of progress. Not long ago, I sat with Grace in the courtyard outside our office while she scrolled through songs on her iPhone, searching for one only she could name. Her hands shake less these days. She’s more attentive. She understands so much more. I still hope to hear her say a word one day. That’s what keeps us going. Grace is one of ten children who have now been dosed with GS-100, the gene therapy we built at Grace Science, LLC specifically for kids like her. We’ve spent almost a decade building something most people said couldn’t be built for a disease this rare. And now, at the moment we’re closest, we’re standing face to face with a manufacturing roadblock that’s left us with seven doses and no facility to make more. The FDA created new pathways this year meant to help ultra-rare diseases like ours. We don’t qualify. And even if we did, we’d still need manufacturing data we can’t currently afford to produce, and more proof of efficacy than a decade-old disease can easily provide. Dozens of families are still waiting their turn. If we can’t find a way through this, I don’t know who else will have the resources, or the will, to try. Grateful to Jason Mast, Matthew Herper, and the STAT team for taking the time to tell this story. Pete Christothoulou liked thisPete Christothoulou liked thisI shared a big idea from a small town with The Information today. Altman is floating 5% of OpenAI to the government. Sanders wants half of every major lab in a federal fund. Washington already owns a piece of Intel. A lot of shots on goal, and none of them answer the question: Are Americans benefiting? The answer may very well start in a cornfield in Indiana. Give it a read (link in comments)

Pete Christothoulou liked thisPete Christothoulou liked thisStarlink is unique because it is the only satellite business that grows and earns like a software company. In 2025, Starlink generated $11.4B of SpaceX's $18.7B in 2025 (61% of total revenue). Before depreciation and other non-cash costs, it kept about 63 cents of every dollar. Meaning Starlink generated $7.2B in profit. On a full operating basis the company posted a $2.6B loss for the year. Two deliberate buildouts drove it. SpaceX spent about $3B developing Starship, and the newly acquired AI segment is scaling its data centers. But strip out the moonshot spending and you see Starlink's core business is highly profitable. Starlink’s revenue grows quickly and keeps a large share of each sales dollar as profit, something aerospace primes rarely do. The chart below ranks each company by the Rule of 40. The rule adds a company's revenue growth to its operating margin. A score above 40 is the common mark of a strong, fast-growing business. SpaceX launching Starlink on its own reusable rockets is what slashes the biggest cost that would otherwise crush operating margins. This graph was pulled from the recent deep dive my research team put together on SpaceX. Head to my Substack to read the full report and learn more about SpaceX's business model: https://lnkd.in/geznEW-e

Pete Christothoulou liked thisPete Christothoulou liked thisAt 11k employees, our AI costs are going up. Which model & harness should we use to lower cost but also retain great quality? We didn't want to blindly trust public benchmarks. So we ran a comprehensive evaluation on our tasks, code base, infra. It's been produced by more than 3,000 software engineers, spans 3 hyperscalar clouds and many languages and tasks. The results are surprising. We find that for the SAME mdoel, the choice of harness can significantly save costs (~2x). We also find that GLM 5.2 performs extremely well. We run 𝐎𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 in front of these and can easily multiplex different harnesses and models for different tasks. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gtmRvgng

The signed vs. live ARR gap right now is insane. For the first time in my career, I’m seeing a monster gap between CARR (Contracted ARR) and live ARR. In vertical AI—across categories like voice, enterprise search, and collaboration tooling—the market pull is bigger than I’ve ever seen. Startups are signing $8M in CARR while only realizing $2M of live ARR. That’s how strong the demand signal is right now. The winners won’t just be the ones with the biggest contracts. The winners will be the ones who leverage AI to streamline onboarding—turning contracts into live ARR fast. This will lead to: 1. Happier customers who see value immediately 2. Faster cash conversion to reinvest in growth 3. Less reliance on external capital, and less dilution In this cycle, onboarding isn’t a back-office function. It’s a growth strategy. #VerticalAI #GTM #Onboarding #CustomerSuccess #NPS #CSAT

I’ve been talking with founders about how painful enterprise customization still is — even in 2025. David Dworsky and Gordon Ritter just put words to what we’ve been seeing: the age of point-and-click configuration is ending, and the next category winners will make customization conversational. For early-stage founders, this is the wedge: - Own one painful workflow - Capture the data - Build toward becoming a system of record If you’re building in this space, I’d love to hear how you’re approaching it.
