It was a pleasure to host David Bunei who paid me today, the Managing Director of Oracle Kenya and Public Sector Leader for Africa today. Our conversation explored the growing role of cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, and sovereign cloud infrastructure in accelerating digital transformation across the continent. As governments and businesses increasingly embrace digital solutions, strategic collaborations between the public and private sectors will be critical in delivering secure, resilient, and citizen-centered services. Kenya is steadily positioning itself as a regional digital hub, and partnerships with global technology leaders such as Oracle will be instrumental in strengthening our digital infrastructure, fostering innovation, enhancing public service delivery, and unlocking new opportunities for businesses and young people. The digital economy is built through collaboration. I look forward to deepening this engagement as we work towards a more innovative, inclusive, and globally competitive Kenya.

The session also featured presentations by Prof. Paul Odola, MBS, Anne Korir, MPH, PhD Student, Mercy M. Kahare, Dr. Sitna Ali Mwanzi, and Dr. Wambui Kungu, covering the National Surgical Services Strategic Plan, Kenya's cancer burden, advances in breast cancer treatment, and innovations in the management of brain and spinal tumors. -

Martha Karua stood with Kibaki during the turbulent days following the disputed 2007 elections. She stood with Raila Odinga in 2022 when many had already written his political obituary and agreed to be his running mate. And now, she has found herself in Uganda, risking her own freedom and safety in defense of her longtime friend, Kizza Besigye, against charges many of his supporters consider politically motivated. That's Martha being Martha. And perhaps that is the lesson. Sometimes we don't need an army of friends. We just need one. One person who answers the phone. One person who says, "You are not going through this alone." Martha Karua may now be persona non grata in Uganda, but that does not seem to bother her nearly as much as the wellbeing of her friend. And that is what loyalty looks like. Showing up. As someone who works around conflicts, I often tell people that when family, business, or personal conflicts come-and they do-get yourself a Martha Karua. Peter Kamau liked thisPeter Kamau liked thisIf you're thinking about getting into IT, here's something nobody tells you early enough. The technical knowledge is the price of admission. It is not what makes you good at the job. I've seen brilliant troubleshooters struggle and average ones thrive, and the difference almost always comes down to two things that have nothing to do with how much you know about the tech. The first is documentation. If you fix something and don't write it down, you didn't really solve the problem. You just delayed it. The next person who hits that issue (and there's always a next person, and sometimes that person is you six months later) starts from zero. Good documentation is how you turn a one time fix into something the whole team can lean on. It is quiet, unglamorous work, and it separates the pros from the people who are constantly putting out the same fire. The second is customer service. Most of the people you help are stressed, busy, and not technical. They don't care how clever your fix was. They care that you listened, didn't talk down to them, and made the problem go away. The ability to stay calm, explain things in plain language, and treat people with patience will carry you further than any certification. Here's the truth: the technical skills get you in the door. How you document your work and how you treat people are what build your reputation and your career. If you're just starting out, learn the tech. But don't stop there. The soft stuff is the hard stuff, and it's what actually sets you apart. What do you wish someone had told you when you were starting out?

I am super thrilled to keep the A’s coming and sustain a GPA greater than 3.7 landing me a consecutive Deans List. I feel deeply honored and humbled given the rigor at National University. This is the hardest most challenging project that I have ever undertaken. I am happy to say that it is paying off at the halfway mark. I got this !

Peter Kamau liked thisA country cannot develop when its intellectuals keep selling our IP to foreigners for a song.Peter Kamau liked thisProfessor George Njoroge of Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital has received a KSh 446 million grant from the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Research, jointly with Professor Robert Bristow of the University of Manchester and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The funding supports early detection of oesophageal cancer, the third most common and most lethal cancer in Kenya, through mobile clinics deployed across Kisii, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kiambu and Meru counties. The project has already trained over 400 clinicians and 500 community health workers while conducting more than 1,000 endoscopic procedures. Njoroge, the first African to secure over 100 US patents, previously co-discovered Victrelis, the first FDA-approved hepatitis C protease inhibitor.

What stood out most was the Mechanical Division equipped with modern, industry-aligned machinery that reflects the future of technical training in Kenya. RPL is more than a certification pathway; it is a powerful equalizer. It recognizes skills acquired outside formal education, unlocks economic opportunity, and bridges the gap between informal expertise and formal industry standards. Encouragingly, our TVET institutions are rising to this challenge playing a pivotal role in building a competent, certified, and globally competitive workforce. Proud to be part of this journey.
