Looking back, it was just a desk, a laptop, a plant, and apparently a concerning number of balloons. A lot has changed since then. The office is different. The team is different. The business is different. Thankfully, I no longer share an office with Jose Agüero Rivera and Edna Herrera But some things haven't changed. I still use the same desk. The plant somehow is still alive. I've added a few more screens, but the setup is surprisingly similar. And I'd like to think the most important things are still there too. The excitement of building something. The curiosity to keep learning. The belief that most problems can be solved if you're willing to work through them. It's funny how some things evolve constantly, while others stay exactly the same. And sometimes those are the things worth keeping. P.S. I found this picture while looking through old photos on my birthday. Not a bad reminder of how things started.

OneRail handles a massive volume of logistics data, integrations, and vendors, so it’s exactly the kind of environment I was hoping to work in. I’ll be spending the summer working directly with their Implementation team to collect data and use AI to automate vendor onboarding. Big thanks to Marshall Rodriguez, PMI-ACP for interviewing me, and Mark Hancock for getting back to me with an offer quickly after I interviewed.

Patrick LaFollette liked thisPatrick LaFollette liked thisFedEx officially enters the Quick Commerce Wars with FedEx Same Day Local - a 2-hour to end-of-day delivery service, continuing a trend of huge PR wins 👇 Following on the heels of it's massive €9.2B InPost consortium acquisition which I called FedEx's most important acquisition since TNT.... and riding high on a massive surge in stock price after it's latest earnings announcement... FedEx continues it's momentum by joining the Quick Commerce Wars through a partnership with OneRail, a delivery orchestration startup! Nobody will remember this, but I talked about One Rail's $42M funding round last year in one of my worst performing LinkedIn posts ever (not even they LIKED or commented on it 🤣) FedEx's partnership appears to be a white-label or co-operated service where FedEx will utilize OneRail's platform, which is already connected to over 1,000 other carrier companies, in order to offer instant Quick Commerce delivery This is a great first step for FedEx to ensure that it's not completely left out of the Quick Commerce game which is set to be dominated by DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, and a flew of other players with DNA in the instant delivery space Quick Commerce follows a completely different playbook, which I presented as the 3D's: 1️⃣ Delivery-Drivers at Scale 2️⃣ Dark stores, or micro fulfillment centers 3️⃣ Digitally native With this partnership, FedEx now secures #1 on the list. How they intend to get into the other two is going to be more challenging, but with the hits coming in, including FedEx Returns partnerships with Amazon and parcelLab, I wouldn't be surprised if we see FedEx's name pop up a few more times in these spaces. ============== A longer version of this article first appeared on my blog.
