Patrick Callan liked thisPatrick Callan liked thisThis past weekend, I had the pleasure of teaching CPR and AED information to two amazing couples that contacted me out of concern for their children. The couple featured on the photo will be having their first bundle of joy in the upcoming months. As new parents, they felt it incumbent upon them to receive training to handle emergencies. They brought the new baby’s uncle with them to also receive the same training.The other couple in attendance was from the other side of my city. They are responsible for providing childcare to a one-year-old toddler. The toddler’s parents had requested they become certified in CPR to be better prepared to handle emergencies. As we go further along into 2019, what better gift to offer your loved ones than being prepared to save lives when emergencies occur? I receive requests for training from health care professionals, business owners, and my favorite group – family members that simply want to be better able to handle emergencies swiftly and efficiently. The American Red Cross curriculum is able to meet the needs of those without any medical education or training.Blessings for the rest of 2019! The question I get most often is how we move Nevada from the bottom of healthcare rankings to the top. Advocacy and policy are half the battle. The other half is execution. I’ve joined Desert Health Partners as Senior Partner because we need a mechanism to actually deploy the solutions we talk about in boardrooms. We have built DHP to be the bridge between global health-tech innovation and the very real, very difficult operational environment of Southern Nevada. My focus is on the "proving ground" model. If a company can solve a problem in our market, they can solve it anywhere. We are providing the infrastructure for that validation. This isn't about adding more noise to the ecosystem. It is about disciplined, revenue-focused deployment that serves our providers and our patients. It is time to see what happens when we stop talking about the gaps and start filling them with vetted, scalable technology.
