I’ve recently been pulled into some discussions on how our global connectivity model performs in China - particularly for travelling employees. What stood out is that, like many organisations, we’ve evolved through many workarounds: - Manual changes for travellers - Different experiences depending on location - A bit of “knowing what works where” It works… but it’s not seamless. 👉 It raises a simple question: Are we designing a true “works anywhere” experience, or expecting users to adapt? For global pharma, China isn’t an edge case, it’s a core market, which means the bar is higher: - Reliable access to core tools - Consistent experience across locations - Minimal reliance on workarounds I’m starting to compare notes with peers across the industry and would be interested in others’ experiences: - Are you using combinations like DIA, secure access platforms (e.g. Zscaler), SD-WAN? - Or have you found a more consistent, location-agnostic approach? Keen to hear how others are tackling this. 🤔

I’m proud to be participating in Climb for Community, a new Life Science Cares Boston initiative that brings together leaders across our industry to take on a physical challenge in service of something bigger – supporting communities most impacted by poverty. I climb because the outdoors grounds me, and community sustains me. Training and climbing alongside peers from different companies is a powerful reminder that when we work together toward a common goal, we can create real, lasting impact. After 16 years as a member of the Board, Caroline has decided to retire and will not stand for reelection at the Company’s 2026 Annual Meeting of Stockholders in June. We thank Caroline for her visionary leadership as Chair of the Board and as a longstanding board member. During her tenure, Biogen has pioneered groundbreaking science and delivered innovative medicines. Had a great time speaking at the CyberPathway student chapter last week including a repeat session on the topic titled “The Four Planes Model: Data, Control, Management & Observability — and Where Security Hooks In.” We explored how every network, security, and cloud design and operations can be viewed through these four lenses — Data Plane – packets & segmentation Control Plane – routing, policies, and identity Management Plane – change, automation & governance Observability Plane – logs, metrics, and feedback loops One of the most engaging moments was when the group applied the model to analyze the recent AWS outage, mapping where each plane contributed to event, detection, control, and recovery. And perhaps the biggest compliment of all: a repeated attendee, saying he “wanted to extract more information” from the discussion. That kind of curiosity and hunger to learn is exactly what our industry needs. I believe mentoring isn’t just about sharing knowledge, but about sparking new ways of thinking. If our next generation of engineers start designing and securing infrastructure keeping fundamental design principles, we’re already shaping a more resilient digital future. A big Thank You to ISC2 New Jersey Chapter Bryon Singh and the CyberPathway Chapter Team for hosting this event.
