Nicholas Holt, CISSP liked thisNicholas Holt, CISSP liked thisI'm back from two incredible weeks at Palantir Technologies’s AIPCon at the Skywalker Ranch and Zscaler’s Zenith Live in Vegas. Huge thanks to both teams for hosting and the brilliant leaders I spent time with - truly humbling. It’s impossible to ignore the business case for AI and the platforms that enable us to deploy it at scale. These are seriously impressive companies helping their customers do remarkable things. Looking past the AI tech, I'm left with deeper questions about what we're risking as individuals and as organizations. Similar to how Google Maps eroded my ability to navigate without it, I'm sure that if I become overly-reliant on AI I'll lose the ability to synthesize information and articulate complex problems. I'm concerned that if we outsource critical functions to AI agents, we'll lose our autonomy and be helpless in the event of a downtime (or a massive price hike). Don't we still need people who can do everything we're asking AI to do, just in case? We have to adopt these tools to win...but we shouldn't automate away the human intuition and intellect that built our careers and our organizations in the first place. Plenty to think about as we secure the path forward, and I'm thankful to be on the cutting edge of it in healthcare with the TGH team!

CMMC Contract Clauses Finalized: DoD Sets Enforcement Timeline Introduction The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has finalized rule changes that lock the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) into federal contracting. Effective November 10, 2025, CMMC requirements will formally appear in solicitations, modifications, and option exercises—making compliance a non-negotiable for defense contractors and subcontractors. Key Details • Rule Finalization • Amends the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). • Implements the CMMC framework under 32 C.F.R. part 170, finalized in October 2024. • Embeds CMMC directly into the contracting process, impacting both primes and subs. • Conditional Awards • DFARS 204.7502 clarifies policies for CMMC Levels 2 and 3. • Contractors may receive conditional awards with pending requirements for up to 180 days, if eligible Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) remain. • Final CMMC status is granted upon successful POAM closeout. • Practical Impact • Expands competition opportunities by allowing in-progress companies to bid. • Raises urgency to complete all CMMC-related remediation within the conditional window. • Reinforces DoD’s commitment to balancing cybersecurity rigor with industry participation. Why It Matters The finalization of CMMC clauses marks the transition from preparation to enforcement. Contractors must now treat cybersecurity as a contract-critical deliverable.
