Mykka Nicolette Claveria reacted on thisWhat started in my business partner's apartment turned into something bigger than we anticipated. Miko La had always been Mr. aZn PRiDe and since I've known him he's always been about bringing together all asian diasporas to celebrate Lunar New Year. Because he grew up California his friend groups are massively diverse. He wanted EVERYONE to learn about how each culture celebrates Lunar New Year. The Chinese, Viets, Koreans, Filipinos all do it differently but also trying to educate the Latinos, our Black homies - pretty much everyone that wanted to party, eat good food & dance. LNY events could feel less approachable for those who aren't asian but we wanted it to reflect the community that represents us and who we associate ourselves with. As #10MINUS2, we were asked to be board members at Soho Warehouse and throw an event. It was a no brainer to go big on Lunar New Year and the results were beyond us! Lines out the door and down the street, exceeding the bar tab for any LNY event they've thrown. Thanks to the crew that helped and believed in us: Jason Miguel T Cruz Miles Canares Nikki Tran Christopher Caspe and the rest of the team for believing in us and throwing the best LNY event at Soho House & Co! What started in a small Chinatown apartment became the foundation for our Lunar New Year takeover at Soho House & Co. #10MINUS2 partnered with our friends at Mahjong Mistress to honor our shared Asian-American culture with an immersive Year of the Dragon celebration. 🧧 The energy was unmatched — with more than 4,800 RSVPs and lines wrapping around the block, Soho Warehouse was packed from wall to wall. Inside, guests were transported into a world of glowing red lanterns, fragrant floral arrangements, and oranges hanging from trees — timeless symbols of prosperity and good fortune. The space felt like a blend between an emperor’s garden and a lively mahjong den, striking the perfect balance of East meets West. From live lion dance performers and mahjong tables to curated bites from #FamilyStyleFest, music powered by Spotify, and special guests like P-Lo & Saweetie, the night became a true convergence of culture, community, and creativity. At its core, our mission was simple: to share a holiday one of our founders grew up with — and to open that tradition so others could experience just how beautiful it is when celebrated in community. It’s a collective of the best designers in the industry, including many of the geniuses I’ve crossed paths with over the years. This is day one, and we’re ready to go!
