I am incredibly grateful to work for an organization that invests in the learning, growth, and development of its teammates. The experience was more than just leadership training, it was an opportunity to reflect, recharge, and grow alongside talented leaders from across the organization. There is something special about stepping away from the day-to-day pace and spending time on such a beautiful campus surrounded by nature and serenity. The environment created space for meaningful conversations, fresh perspectives, and intentional growth. As I wrap up this chapter of the program, I am better prepared and more confident as I continue forging ahead in my career journey. I’m excited to apply these experiences, lessons, and connections in the work ahead. My daughter Fanny Belaud walked across the stage at the University at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a double minor in Sociology and Social Justice. Proud doesn't begin to cover it. What makes this even more special is that she spent her time at UAlbany not just studying public service but living it, serving as Marketing and Digital Coordinator for the University at University at Albany Community and Public Service Program (CPSP). She made such an impact that the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) hired her permanently, and she started this week as their coordinator at UAlbany. Watching your child find work that aligns with her values and hit the ground running before the cap and gown are even put away, that's the dream! Congratulations, Fanny. Melissa Horton liked thisMelissa Horton liked thisIn late February, I had the opportunity to spend meaningful time with my leadership team at the Truist Leadership Institute, focused on how we lead, how we work together and how we continue building a high‑performing team. With only four of our 10 leaders having worked together for more than a year, this time together really mattered. We leaned into understanding our individual and collective strengths, how we show up under stress, and how we communicate more effectively with one another. Working through real scenarios from our day‑to‑day work led to several “aha” moments and strengthened trust across the team. We recognize that a high-performing team is not built only on alignment of our business goals. It is also built on our awareness and accountability. I’m grateful for the openness, commitment, and willingness to invest in growth that everyone brought to this experience. We left more connected, more aligned, and better prepared for what’s ahead — together. Leadership development is not a soft exercise. From the panel discussion with my boss, Steve Hagerman, to the insightful perspectives shared by my peers, the excitement was palpable. The ambition is real, and so is our momentum as we work toward becoming a true Frontier bank. An extended Q&A closed the session, giving us the chance to clarify our journey and reinforce the strong excitement we felt across the organization.
