Milo Auguste Jr. (Father) reposted thisMilo Auguste Jr. (Father) reposted thisOne of the most common questions I’ve been getting: 👉 “What do you mean by ‘signals’ and ‘capabilities’?” Here’s the simplest way I think about it: Capabilities are the underlying human abilities that drive performance. Things like: • Judgment • Ownership • Adaptability • Learning Agility These are what actually determine how someone performs over time. But capabilities are not directly visible. So we rely on something else… Signals are the observable indicators we use to infer those capabilities. For example: Capability → Judgment Signals → • how someone frames a problem • how they weigh trade-offs • how they explain decisions • how they respond to ambiguity Here’s the issue: Most hiring systems rely on weak or incomplete signals: • resumes • credentials • interview polish And then use those signals to make high-stakes decisions. That’s where inconsistency comes from. 👉 The goal isn’t more data 👉 It’s better signal quality That’s the shift! Like, most folks would rather get the model's best guess than have it constantly punt on questions, so changing benchmark scoring might just create different problems.Milo Auguste Jr. (Father) shared thisOpenAI just published a great paper that delves into one of the most stubborn problems in LLMs: hallucinations! It’s not just about size or reasoning, it’s incentives. Benchmarks reward guessing over saying “I don’t know.” -- The proposed fix? Instead of more hallucination benchmarks, the key is changing leaderboard rules. We grew revenue by 13% year-over-year to a record $5.7 billion and generated 600 basis points of positive operating leverage, a pre-tax margin of 40% and an ROTCE of 31%. Yes, I had to rewatch some videos twice 😄 But that's exactly what made the difference: I truly understood the concepts instead of just rushing through them. What stuck with me most: how much you can learn when a course is hands-on. I also loved that you could upload your own projects to the community contributions – it was so inspiring to share my work and at the same time see everyone else's ideas and creative approaches.
