AI seems to be helpful to a lot of people in a lot of different ways, love hearing how you utilize it and that is definitely a way I could leverage it more. There is a lot of over-promising of it replacing engineers from AI companies, when I find the opposite to be true, I think it will replace some Delivery, Scrum, and other positions around engineering teams.
I find it is allowing engineers to focus on actual engineering tasks instead of all the pomp and circumstances around them. Being able to tell it to create a ticket based on my changes, write some tests, put up a pull request, attach this video demo, and create a slack message to ask for code reviews all inside an IDE, takes annoying but necessary parts of my job handles it for me, allowing me to start the next story and doing what I enjoy, solving problems.

Mike DeMaso liked thisMike DeMaso liked this15 years ago, I started my career at CSN Stores during a period of hypergrowth that eventually led to its rebrand into Wayfair. It was my very first job and where I was introduced to product management before it became the widely recognized discipline it is today. Last night, I reconnected with former colleagues and peers I hadn’t seen in over a decade at a reunion. It was fun, nostalgic, and a reminder of how grateful I am for that early opportunity. That chapter became a meaningful stepping stone and shaped so much of my career journey. Grateful for where it all started.

Mike DeMaso liked thisMike DeMaso liked thisFrom a kid’s imagination to the App Store — in less than 48 hours. The best part? We never lost the idea. My 9-year-old son, Beau, had an idea for a game — and I didn’t understand it, so we just prompted AI. 30 minutes later, he was playing the first version. It wasn’t 100% what he wanted — so we prompted more and got instant results. While he played, he gave feedback — I shipped updates in minutes. We didn’t just build an MVP. We also built the fun stuff — what we’d normally call feature creep: characters, chaos, haptics, streaks, bragging rights... No delays. No “later.” Just: Idea → prompt → play → improve. His ideas were wild — and honestly some didn’t make much sense to me. But they clicked for him, and he had fun. His friends loved it too (while Beau proudly showed it off). That’s what matters. Real takeaway: Ideas aren’t fully formed — iteration is everything. Show early versions to the idea person, get feedback, iterate fast. The faster you build, test, and get feedback — the better the product. Execution used to slow that down. Now it doesn’t. Repetitive work is becoming a commodity. Creativity is the leverage. The acquisition supports our broader strategy to enter prediction markets. We also shared our plans to launch DraftKings Predictions, a forthcoming mobile application that will allow customers to trade regulated event contracts on real-world outcomes across finance, culture, and entertainment. In 2016, I took a leap into the unknown, joining DraftKings Inc. with a deep interest in building something meaningful in the sports tech space. Nine years later, I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built, how we’ve built it, and the world-class team that has made it possible. Since starting here, I’ve worked across nearly every part of our engineering org — from financial operations and fantasy sports to infrastructure and new products. I’ve been part of launching new products and scaling systems to support millions of players, but most important to me has been growing leaders who now drive our teams forward. Internal mobility has played a huge role in my journey. It’s something I’ve benefited from personally and that I continue to prioritize in how we operate today. Now, as Chief Technology Officer, I’m focused on building a culture where engineers can do their best work, grow into leaders, and see the impact of what they create every day. I will always be grateful for every teammate who’s helped shape my journey!
