Big news! 🎉 I'm excited to share that Shira Racoosin Physical Therapy is growing! When I started SRPT, my goal was simple: to provide truly personalized, one-on-one physical therapy that helps people move better, recover fully, and get back to doing what they love. Thanks to the incredible support of my patients, referral partners, and community, that vision has continued to grow beyond what I could have imagined. Today, I'm excited to welcome Dr. Cara Levi, PT, DPT to the team! Cara brings several years of concierge physical therapy experience and shares the same philosophy of care that my practice was built on: individualized treatment, hands-on care, and empowering patients to achieve long-term success. She has extensive experience treating orthopedic conditions, post-operative patients, athletes, and active adults. Starting this month, Cara will be seeing patients throughout Northwest DC and Downtown Bethesda, helping us care for even more patients in our local community. We're hiring a Doctor of Physical Therapy to join our sports and orthopedic clinic in Westchester County. Here's exactly what this role is — and who it's genuinely right for. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO You'll evaluate and treat a high volume of serious athletes — Division I college athletes, elite high school competitors across multiple sports, post-surgical patients, and high-performing adults. Cases are complex and rewarding. You'll run your own patients with full clinical autonomy, and collaborate closely with a tight team of sports-minded DPTs who all came from competitive athletic backgrounds themselves. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN AND GROW INTO We use force plate technology for objective performance evaluation and return-to-sport testing — a tool most outpatient clinics don't have. You'll develop fluency in data-driven clinical decision making alongside therapists who taking continued learning seriously. We're committed to continuing education and staying current with evidence-based practice. If you want to keep developing as a clinician, this environment will push you. WHAT THIS ROLE REQUIRES — HONESTLY This is not a slow-paced setting. Our athletes are serious about their recovery, and so are we. You'll need to be genuinely organized, self-directed, and energized by a full caseload. The clinicians who thrive here care deeply about people, hold themselves to a high standard, and find that satisfying rather than draining. You don't need to have treated D1 athletes before — but you need to want to, and be ready to grow into it. Nine months in vs nine months out, LinkedIn style! Grateful for the best deadline I’ll ever have. But in all seriousness, thankful for all the help along the way - amazing teachers, peers, colleagues, and my loving, patient family. Last July I defended my dissertation and this past weekend had my official hooding ceremony at University of Virginia. Go hoos! Thankful also for all the district and state leaders I’ve gotten to learn from and support along the way - I’m excited for what this next chapter holds.

Exciting Career Update: A New Venture Ahead! After a rewarding 4.5 years with MovementX, I am excited to share that I’m taking the next step in my career and launching my own business, Shira Racoosin Physical Therapy. 🎉 I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be continuing my work as a concierge style Physical Therapist —offering services for patients in Bethesda and NW DC. In addition to physical therapy, I will also be expanding my practice to include nutrition services, providing a holistic approach to health and wellness that supports both physical recovery and overall well-being. Starting Shira Racoosin Physical Therapy marks an exciting new chapter, and I can’t wait to bring a deeply individualized, one-on-one approach to care that meets my patients where they're at and helps them reach their functional goals. 🎓 Fellowship Graduation Announcement!! 🎊 We are pleased to announce that Mette Coleman, PT, DSc, OCS, COMT, has graduated from the NAIOMT Fellowship Program effective 08/07/2022 and is NAIOMT's 174th fellowship graduate. ➜ Mette Coleman is a native of Denmark. She earned a B.S. in physical therapy from the State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center in 1996. Mette earned a doctorate in science (DSc) in physical therapy from Andrew's University in Michigan in 2021. In addition, she completed three years of osteopathic training at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto. Mette began the NAIOMT fellowship program in 2018 and fulfilled her requirements for graduation in August 2022. She received her Certification in Manual Physical Therapy (CMPT) and Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Mette was recognized as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2020. ➜ While residing in Rhinebeck, New York, Mette ran a private manual therapy-focused physical therapy practice for 15 years. Mette has been a member of the Fascial Research Society since 2013. Her passion for clinical anatomy and experience working as an orthopedic physiotherapist in the U.S. for more than two decades have contributed to her interest in fascial research. In 2022, Mette was invited to participate in the Fascial Net Plastination Project (FNPP), a Fascia Research Society collaborative project, producing educational prosections which will be exhibited at the 6th Fascia Research Congress in Montréal. Mette was selected to present a poster at the 6th Fascia Research Congress in Montréal in September 2022 titled "The Clinical Anatomy of the Deep and Visceral Fascia of the Neck and the Implications for Manual Therapy." "Understanding the fascial continuity and its anatomical relationships to the viscera is highly relevant for manual or movement therapy. As manual therapists, we often focus on treating the dysfunctions affecting the musculoskeletal system. For me, safe and effective manual therapy is rooted in a strong foundational knowledge of anatomy and the regional interdependences of all systems throughout the body." Her research interests include fascial anatomy and myofascial pain, as well as developing 3D educational anatomical models for interprofessional education. Mette and her husband recently relocated to Montréal, Canada. After 26 years of clinical practice, she is currently employed full-time at McGill University as a faculty lecturer in the Anatomy and Cell Biology Department. She teaches human gross anatomy to undergraduate health sciences students and dental and medical students. Mette enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She enjoys her daily hike up Mount Royal with her dog Ruby. Congratulations to Mette on this significant achievement!

It’s homecoming weekend at my alma mater Wabash College (more posts to come). I can’t tell you how thankful I am for being a part of this community. A large part of the responsibility for getting me across the finishline of graduation goes to the two amazing individuals Jane Hardy and Dan Rogers. Not a whole lot of my previous life experiences would have indicated that Spanish would be my major, but these two expanded my self-regulation and breathed life into my imagination. Incredibly indebted to them and the whole Wabash community. #waf #community #grateful
