📲 The #USPTO just made a meaningful change for #design #patent applications for graphical user interfaces. 🖥️ Under the prior rule in MPEP § 1504.01(a), a GUI or icon “must be embodied in a display panel, or portion thereof,” and design patent applications were rejected if the drawing did not show that panel “in either solid or broken lines.” 📵 The new guidance changes that. It says “the depiction of a display screen or a portion thereof is no longer required when both the title and claim properly identify the article of manufacture, e.g., a computer." ✏️ This means that applicants can simplify their drawings as long as their title and claims note that the visual element is for a computer. 📃 See the Federal Register for the full text of the rule change, at https://lnkd.in/gTAZfCcB

The complexity induced with all the Software Define Vehicles (SDV) is making certification impossible, the video game and cellphone chips were never designed to successfully enable freedom of interferences between all of those VMs ... Cache level of CPU are shared, memory contrôler are shared, interrupt controller are shared, and time partitioning is only taking performance away from the application programmers. If you have tried it, you know it by now ... Fortunatly, you can get a multiple system on chip, where freedom of interference is the primary design point. Time partitioning is NOT FREDOM OF INTERFERENCE, performance varies when using VMs next to each other, a simple bug causing an infinite loop can shader your dream of certification when testing your freedom of interferences with time partitioning.
