Mia Gonzales Dean MBA, MS PT, FACHE shared this#AnyoneCanCook 🧑🏻🍳👩🏿🍳👨🏻🍳 One of the smartest things I have done as a Mom is enroll our daughter, Naomi Dean , in summer culinary camp at Walnut Hill College when she was in elementary school. She learned important life skills from the chefs (kitchen etiquette, food safety, knife skills, teamwork…) and knows how to prepare meals for herself. Everyone in healthcare strives toward health equity and to address social determinants of health. Making sure that people (including children, teens and young adults) have the knowledge and skills to shop for raw ingredients and prepare healthy and tasty meals that are also cost effective - are all ways to support a food as medicine model. There are many thought leaders and innovators working in this space and I enjoy following their work and tangible outcomes in their communities. Mia Gonzales Dean MBA, MS PT, FACHE shared this🙏🏼 The power of “please” and “thank you.” This is a gratitude post to Shaun (I sure hope I am spelling your name correctly!) from our neighborhood Acme Markets grocery store. Our daughter is preparing a special meal for her Dad using some recipes from James Beard award-winning chef, Michael Solomonov’s, “Zahav” cookbook. I went to one local store in search of fresh dill and mint and the store had none. I couldn’t see any in the produce section and asked Shaun if he could help me find some. He quickly walked to the back of the store and gloriously held up beautiful bunches of mint and dill, effectively saving my daughter’s meal preparation and more importantly, a special meal for her Dad. I thanked Shaun profusely for “saving the day” and also shared my compliments with the Customer Service desk to share with the store leadership. One of the Acme team members standing nearby remarked, “We always hear the complaints, but we don’t always hear when we get it right. Thanks for sharing that and for your positive attitude.” In the aggregate, passing on these compliments probably took me less than one minute, but I hope that the individuals to whom these words touched will remember that their care and attention to detail is incredibly meaningful to so many people. 💕 Naomi Dean Gregory Dean, MD

It was a reminder of why we started Restaura and why we’re building the Phoenix3 Collective the way we are. Scott was one of the very first employee owners at Restaura and serves as Dining Services Manager at The Seabrook. Every day, he exemplifies what ownership looks like in action. He goes above and beyond to create exceptional experiences for residents, families, guests, and his team. He doesn’t just do his job. He takes personal pride in the outcome. People like Scott are what set Phoenix3 Collective apart. We believe ownership changes the way people think. It creates alignment, accountability, and engagement. What made this recognition even more meaningful was that it came as a complete surprise, made possible by a nomination from my amazing team at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. To be recognized by the very people I have the privilege of serving alongside each day and to have my family present is one of the greatest honors I could receive. It was also a privilege to represent Kaiser Permanente as a presenting sponsor of this inspiring event and to have the opportunity to share a few remarks about leadership, service, and the power of influencing in our communities. Every generation of leaders has the opportunity, and the responsibility to inspire the next. I hope that young girls everywhere see women leading with integrity, compassion, resilience, humility, and courage, and realize there is no limit to what they can become. Leadership is more than titles… it’s about the example we set and the lives we impact. As women of influence, we have the power to lift others up… to give courage to the quiet voice in the corner, to coach others to overcome their fears, and to speak life into those who are struggling in their careers or facing setbacks. Influence is really a byproduct of the relationships we build, the trust we earn, and the sense of community we create together. There is a phrase that says, “Never forget where you came from,” but there is another that goes “Never forget those who helped you get to where you are.” None of us could reach these milestones alone. I am grateful for every mentor, leader, colleague, friend, and family member who has believed in me, challenged me, encouraged me, and helped shape the leader I am today. Throughout my career, I have tried to keep three priorities in the same order: 1. God 2. Family 3. Work. When those priorities stay aligned, for me, everything falls into place just the way that it should. Leadership is not about recognition… it is about stewardship, service, and leaving people better than we found them. Congratulations to my fellow Women of Influence honorees. It was an honor to stand beside such extraordinary leaders across all industries, impacting Silicon Valley. Let’s keep influencing in our communities!

I am 16 years in, and I can still say that I love the profession of Physical Therapy. I surely love it for the big and beautiful possibilities. For the systems and structures that I am collaborating with others to elevate. Yes to all of that. But the current sentiment that I am feeling right now as I type is much simpler. I love this profession for the collaboration with the patients that invite me alongside them on their movement health journeys. The setting of an aim. The striving toward it. The navigating of the lefts and the rights. And the setbacks when they come. The leaning into the resilience of the body and the mind. And the wonder that is the human spirit. Sixteen years in, and I still love it. The profession of Physical Therapy. Cheers to the journey ahead.

It was fascinating to learn more about Food 2.0, the innovative military dining program that supports service members' endurance, recovery, and mission readiness while also training Airmen in culinary and hospitality skills. I also had the privilege of serving as a judge for the SHEF competition, Salute Hospitality's quarterly culinary competition that showcases skill and creativity. Contestants were challenged to create dishes using three mystery ingredients, and I was incredibly impressed by what each of them created.
