Matthew Pfeiffer liked thisMatthew Pfeiffer liked thisJust a few months ago we launched a rocket, and I am so proud to say I helped to get it off the ground. Components that I worked were on a rocket which successfully reached orbit on its first launch! As a Responsible Engineer within New Glenn Umbilicals Design, my last few years at Blue have been filled with learning, excitement, and a wonderful community. The electrical energy of those first moments as the rocket rumbled for takeoff were captivating. It was incredible to watch our Umbilicals disconnect, followed by beautiful blue plumes of the BE-4s, raising New Glenn up to touch the stars. Looking forward to our next launch and beyond.

Matthew Pfeiffer liked thisMatthew Pfeiffer liked thisLast month I graduated with an MS in Environmental Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo! My research focused on the Effect of Repeat High Severity Wildfires on Soil Biogeochemical Properties in California Forests. This project has deepened my understanding of soil health, wildfire impacts and the resilience of natural ecosystems. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, filled with valuable lessons in leadership, research, data analysis, statistics, and teamwork. I would like to extend my thanks to the California State University Agricultural Research Institute for funding. A special shout out goes to my amazing advisor Stewart Wilson, PhD and all the incredible undergraduate students of the Soil Biogeoinformatics Lab for their hard work both in the field and the lab. Thank you to everyone in the ESM graduate cohort for their companionship and help!

As an engineering intern, I had the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from an outstanding team of engineers. I would like to extend my gratitude to Jake Charlton, Jake Peterson, and Brent Yaeggy for their guidance and support throughout my internship. During this experience, I gained valuable insights into both common and specialized manufacturing processes. I actively participated in a diverse array of projects, including development, process improvement, process creation, and tool design. I am truly grateful for the learning opportunities I had this summer, and I look forward to what the future holds.

Matthew Pfeiffer liked thisMatthew Pfeiffer liked thisI am excited to be approaching my third week as a judicial extern at the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Santa Ana! My externship continues to be an excellent experience: researching novel legal issues; viewing the best and worst of lawyering; working with incredible clerks; and learning from an extremely intelligent and kind judge. I did not realize how difficult it is to critically analyze briefed arguments while remaining impartial throughout my own research. I cannot wait for week three! I would be happy to share more about the benefits of an externship and the decision to attend law school with anyone interested. Thank you to all those in my life who encouraged me to consider this position. I sincerely appreciate my mentors who continue to support my professional and educational journey.
