Dave Bryce, Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Class of 2024 "My experience in the Data Science Program at Bryant has taught me valuable business and technical skills that I will take with me in future job opportunities. Through the guidance of amazing faculty, I have increased my knowledge in critical skills such as Data Visualization, Machine Learning, and effectively communicating insights through data. There is so much encouragement from the professors to work on fulfilling projects for classes or events like Bryant REDay that serve as a great experience and resume builder. One of my favorite moments at Bryant was presenting the “NBA Playoff Prediction via Bayesian Optimization and XGBoost” project with fellow Data Science students at REDay and being selected as an awards finalist. After graduation, I will work at Olympus Corporation of the Americas in their Global Marketing Data and Portfolio Analytics Rotational Program. I feel confident and prepared for this role and am extremely grateful for the Data Science program for setting me up for success". The ISA department wishes David the best in his next chapter! -

It was the 1912 Olympics, and Jim, an American Indian from Oklahoma represented the U.S. in track and field. On the morning of his competitions, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim ended up finding two shoes in a garbage can. That's the pair that he's wearing in the photo. But one of the shoes was too big, so he had to wear an extra sock. Wearing these shoes, Jim won two gold medals that day. This is a perfect reminder that you don't have to resign to the excuses that have held you back. So what if life hasn't been fair? What are you going to do about it today? Whatever you woke up with this morning; stolen shoes, ill health, failed relationships, don't let it stop you from running your race. You can experience more in life if you'll get over the excuses and get on with living. A diagnosis is not an identity, but is something a person carries. And no two people carry the same condition the same way; medicine may be taught in textbooks, but it is lived in nuance. Patient-centered care focuses on continuity, shared decision-making, and the consideration for psychosocial factors. It is associated with improved clinical outcomes, including better physical and mental health status, and reduced healthcare utilization for emergency services. Similarly, systematic reviews of advanced practice nursing in primary care demonstrate comparable outcomes in chronic disease management, including a reduction in hospitalizations and a decline in resource allocation. Across multiple studies, the outcomes are consistent: Improved adherence to treatment plans Higher patient engagement Earlier recognition of clinical changes More appropriate utilization of care These findings suggest that effectiveness in healthcare is not solely a function of clinical decision-making, but of seeing the whole person and understanding the full picture. In practice, this supports a shift from a disease-centered model to one that integrates clinical expertise with patient-specific factors. As healthcare systems continue to prioritize quality and value, the evidence supports a clear conclusion. Care that is organized around the patient, not the disease, produces more reliable and sustained outcomes.

Blood Flow and Hemodialysis Graft Pressures During the Hydraulic Compression Test
UMI
Successful hemodialysis depends on reliable vascular access. Although healthcare employs a variety of tactics to maintain patent access, clotting remains a frequent cause of hospitalizations for dialysis patients. Based upon the hemodynamic principals of blood flow, the hydraulic compression test is a non invasive means to monitor PTFE graft pressure changes which may be an early indicator of failing access.
