  • Creating 3D Model Assets for Autodesk InfraWorks

    Autodesk University

InfraWorks software ships with a basic selection of 3D assets for populating your models. In this class we will learn effective ways of preparing your own 3D models using applications such as 3ds Max software and Trimble’s SketchUp modeling program. From here we will dive into InfraWorks software and learn how to import your custom assets, arrange them into libraries, and export them for use by other user. We will also demonstrate some effective techniques for using roadways and 3D models to…

  • Effective Coordinate Space Transformation Workflows

    Autodesk University

Working with data sets between single-precision, non-geospatially aware applications (such as 3ds Max software, Revit software, and Inventor software) and double-precision, geospatially aware applications (like AutoCAD software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, ReCap software, and Navisworks software) can be difficult and frustrating. This class will help you to better understand this confusing process and explore several effective and proven methods for exchanging data sets…

  • Using the Allegorithmic's Substance Procedural Texture Tool in Autodesk® Applications

    Autodesk University

Texture creation has never been so easy or so powerful since the release of Allegorithmic’s Substance for Autodesk® 3ds Max® and Autodesk® Maya®. In this class, we begin by examining the Substance Player and how it can be used to preview and manipulate your Substance textures. We also explore the vast library of pre-built shaders. We learn how to generate texture simple bitmaps, which are ideal for Autodesk applications, such as Autodesk® Revit-based software, Autodesk® AutoCAD®, Autodesk®…

We learn how to generate texture simple bitmaps, which are ideal for Autodesk applications, such as Autodesk® Revit-based software, Autodesk® AutoCAD®, Autodesk® InfraWorks™, and Autodesk® Showcase®, which do not yet support Substance shaders directly. Next, we dive into 3ds Max and Maya and explore the true power of Substance and learn how to create both simple and complex shader networks for compelling materials. Finally, we wrap up by learning several optimization techniques to enhance the Substance workflow such as bitmap scaling and hardware and software rendering.

  • Building Cities and Infrastructure Projects: Integrating Autodesk Infrastructure Modeller into a BIM, Geospatial, and Visualization Workflow

    Autodesk University

Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler (AIM) is the newest design and communication tool for large and small infrastructure projects, cities, campuses, and more. You can use this tool to quickly and easily conceptualize and visualize existing and proposed urban settings, utilities, and transportation projects in a real-time environment. It is also a fantastic tool for creating clean, seamless city model assets for Autodesk 3ds Max®, Autodesk Civil 3D®, Autodesk Revit® and Autodesk Navisworks®.

  • Charlotte Gateway Station Multimodal Station Area Plan

    - Present

I worked closely with the pursuit team to create an InfraWorks model demonstrating the primary phases of development for the proposed intermodal Charlotte Gateway Station. This model will be used further in design and development of the station and surrounding areas for the City of Charlotte, NCDOT and other stakeholders.

I am the task lead for the Project Visualization Group overseeing production of all the visualization and VDC components of the Doyle Drive Project. In addition to supervising, I also work in production creating 3D models, producing stills and animations and assembling presentations for the design teams in San Francisco.

The Alaskan Way Viaduct & Seawall Replacement animations were used to simulate both a tunnel and elevated rebuild used to gain approval from city and public officials. My dudties included coordinating the integration of all modeling and animation assets into a massive 3D model of the Seattle metro area. This project saw the advent of the transition to Windows XP 64bit to handle the enormous datasets and the establishment of several new production techniques. I was also part of the original team to provide a 4-minute animation of the Alaskan Way Viaduct in 2004 used to win support for the project.
