You can't do a good 2-layer PCB. You need a 4 layers for a GND plane. Yes and No. But when you do a 2-layer PCB, start like this: - Configure net colors so that you recognize GND (I always make GND green) - Add vias to all your ground connections - Connect all these vias on the bottom side to each other - Make a grid by adding spokes - During routing of the rest of your PCB treat this grid with lots of respect. Do not break the grid. - At the end.. fill the bottom with a GND plane Doing this... you are able to get away with a lot.
