  • AI Agent / Agentic Workflow - Weatherman AI

    -

I wanted to create an Agentic Workflow to fully automate news weather video creation. This AI Agent gets a 3 day forecast, generates a script to deliver the news, generates an image to use as a background containing the day, high/low temps, weather conditions, and icons, and finally generates a video of a weatherman delivering the script while standing in front of a background containing weather details. The idea is that weather-related news is something AI can easily handle. I'm not out here…

I'm not out here advocating that we should replace weathermen, meteorologists, and news weather with AI. But considering that Weather is unbiased, it could be a great candidate.

I created a private API using Go whose endpoints would be hit by a Python script running as a cron job. I hosted it in a Docker container in an EC2 instance. The application interacts with external APIs for weather, script generation, and video generation. It handles image creation and uploading.

This is also the first time I've been serious about tracking the time I've spent working on a project. I spent 33.5 hours working on this.

Front End: Next.js (React) and TailwindCSS + Tailwind UI
Back End: Serverless via API Gateway (REST) + AWS Lambda (Python)
Storage: S3 and Amazon RDS (Serverless Aurora PostgreSQL)

Hosting: Working on multi-region deployment and orchestration via Docker and Kubernetes. I plan on
implementing load balancing via an ingress controller + HPA. (I'm considering ECS and EKS. I'm also considering OpenTelemetry / Prometheus / Grafana for logging and metrics)
