Dechert LLP said on January 23 that it has hired a group of 20 partners from competitor McDermott, Will & Schulte, including a firm leader, gaining new offices in Chicago and Dallas in the process. Mike Poulos, who was a member of McDermott's executive committee and its global strategy chief, leads the group joining Dechert across several cities. Poulos, who is joining Dechert as vice chair and global head of strategy, noted that McDermott had completed a merger with Schulte Roth & Zabel last summer. He said Dechert was on a 'spectacular trajectory' and he looked forward to being part of its current growth. In addition to Chicago and Dallas, where Dechert did not previously have offices, the new partners are based in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
