The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Here's what actually makes people lazy: • Bad hiring (you picked them) • Lack of trust (you broke them) • Poor leadership (you failed them) I've been working remotely for 5 years. Want to know what happens when you trust good people? They: • Crush their targets • Refer more talent • Take ownership • Stay longer Because they can: • Actually sleep • Hit the gym daily • Skip the commute • See their kids more All this is to say: Lazy people will be lazy anywhere. That's not a remote work problem. That's a you problem. Fix your hiring. Fix your mindset. Fix your leadership. Or watch your best people leave. I’ve been at Apple from the beginning of my career as an iTunes Intern working on iBooks (before it became what it is known today as Apple Books). It’s been just shy of ten years and it is time for me to have some serious RnR. I will be writing, reading but mostly I’ll be readjusting from always on the go to letting myself completely reset, relax and rest. I never had a gap year so time away from a corporate job focusing on my passion and creativity and seeing where it can takes me, will be my version of a gap year. I have loved working at Apple. I worked with the most amazing team in the best company, I worked on countless projects which I’m super proud of, but mostly every day I came to work, I was happy, laughing and being completely myself. I have a huge THANK YOU to say to the UK services team for letting me bring my whole self to work, which rarely happens, accepting all my weird and wonderful ways, pushing me to be my best self, teaching me and letting me learn from you. To all the amazing, publishers, authors, creators fellow booksellers and ebook lovers - thank you for all the parties, all the proofs, all you’ve taught me, the many many publisher drinks and the great books chat over the years! I still see a future in publishing, books, but open to something new using the skills I’ve learnt along the way. I’ll be resetting my nervous system for sometime, but if you know a job that might work with my background and skillset, give a girl a call - I love me some corporate benefits 😅especially in this economy 👀 Apple just celebrated its 50th anniversary and it is wild that I was present for just under ten years of its lifespan ❤️ Showing that life moves quickly but slowly all at the same time. Sometimes the job you never thought you’d get, the path you were reluctant to take, is exactly where you needed to be. My first ever LinkedIn post comes from Gili Air, Bali.

I got to witness and participate in the launches of iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch (and yeah, a bunch of Macs). Of course, I continue to be a fan of the company, as I have been for decades.

Margery Tonna liked thisMargery Tonna liked thisIn my parents photo albums, I found what is probably my first interaction with Apple (circa 1985 with Farhan Syed). I can’t recall what we were playing, but I do remember the Apple IIe vividly. I was blown away that I could use it to control motorized LEGO creations through something called Logo. I remember that inspiration like it was yesterday. It set me down a path to 20+ years at Apple; a path in the pursuit of product innovation that I still journey on today. Here’s to 50 more years of inspiration. Happy birthday Apple. (And yes, I was definitely jealous of my brother’s calculator watch)
