An old picture from the top of the island of the USS Hornet CV-12 with B25's flying over to commemorate Doolittle's Tokyo Raid in 1942 when B25's were loaded onboard the USS Hornet CV-8 at the Alameda Naval Air Station. You can see and visit the USS Hornet CV-12 which is a museum today in the Former Alameda Naval Air Station.

Many weekends I have been needed on one of the manned cameras or on lighting. Here’s a link to the Traditional Legacy service at Menlo Church. Manny Chen shared thisFinally visited the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model in Sausalito, WOW it really is amazing a scale model of the Bays, Delta and ocean right outside of the Golden Gate. Built to model the tides in the Bays and Delta. This allowed for the testing of proposed alterations to the Bay. My father was a Civil Engineer and I started out studying Civil Engineering. I think my father would have loved to see this in action, high tide ocean salt water rushing into the bays and Delta mixing with the fresh water and low tide fresh and brackish water rushing out towards the ocean through the Golden Gate.

Manny Chen reacted on thisSaw that there was a Camera Operator's group and thought I'd check it out. I start out back in the day when Betacam was a standard in broadcast and I got one of the first Canon XL1's which was so much lighter. Didn't do much professionally after that. Shot the occasional wedding or event and did still photography as a hobby. Now volunteer at church designing and running lights and camera op using Sony Burano's and Sony FR7 PTZ's. 9 camera setup: 1 un-manned and 2 manned at the back on fluid heads and Savvy Stands, 2 hand held wireless Teradek Ranger on Easy Rigs, and 4 of the FR7 PTZ's 1 on a parallel slider at the rear, 1 on a column on the left, and 2 on tripods on stage that get moved around as needed. I am just learning to use the PTZ's spend most of my time on one of the manned camera and training some of the other operators.

Manny Chen liked thisManny Chen liked thisTouring Changed Me. For years, I thought touring was teaching me how to become better at my job. Looking back, I think it was teaching me how to survive. It taught me to expect the unexpected, solve problems before anyone else noticed them, make decisions with limited information, and stay calm when everything around me was falling apart. It taught me to answer every phone call, be available at all hours, and keep going no matter how exhausted I felt. Those are the skills this industry rewards. They’re also the habits that quietly follow you home. The longer I worked in live entertainment, the more I realized the road doesn’t just shape your career. It shapes your mindset. Constant urgency starts to feel normal. Rest feels unproductive. Slowing down can feel like falling behind. You begin measuring your value by how much you’re carrying, how many problems you’re solving, and how many people need you. For a long time, I thought that was what success looked like. Today, I see it differently. Some of the lessons touring gave me made me a better leader. Others were survival mechanisms that no longer served me once I stepped off the bus. That’s one of the greatest gifts, and one of the greatest challenges, of a life on the road. If you’re building a career in live entertainment, learn everything you can from touring. Just remember that the road should shape your career, not define who you become. He was also a huge friend to Ukraine and the American University Kyiv. I first met him in Iraq in 2005 when he visited as part of a Congressional delegation and I was a US Army Officer in Charge of the delegation. . Twenty years later, in 2025 in another war zone, he visited us at the American University Kyiv. I gifted him some North Korean dog tags that I said were no longer needed by the previous owner. He said “I will cherish them”. A big loss for the USA, Ukraine and freedom loving people. Rest in peace Senator Graham. Well done.

If you’ve been following along with San Francisco Public Works, Japantown Taskforce SF and San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department at Japantown Peace Plaza, this video takes you behind the scenes of the next major milestone. From structural work to the finishing touches around the pagoda, every step required careful planning and coordination. A special shoutout to Celtic Scaffolding whose custom scaffolding system supported the installation of the new copper roof on the five-story historic structure. With the scaffolding now down, the transformation is becoming impossible to miss.
