Leadership lessons from the men who made a difference I have a love/hate relationship with Father's Day. It's the day we celebrate the men who lead our families, teach us that the world isn't so scary with their protection, and help give us the confidence we need to take on any challenge. Dads are a girl's first hero! And our husbands continue that role as we age. For those of us who have dads, husbands or brothers teaching us lessons through loss, it is always a bitter sweet day. It's an odd feeling to look around and realize that such significant men in your life are no longer by your side. I spent Sunday reflecting on all the lessons learned that I never really appreciated until they were gone. My dad taught me the value of traditions and how they hold us all together. Connection was incredibly important to him. It's the memories of love and laughter that keep us moving forward in life, giving us the foundation we need. Strong family bonds help you weather any storm. Family challenges help you work through conflict. My dad taught me that quitting was never an option, and that you have to hold tight to those closest to you when it gets tough. Showing up, in good and bad times, is what makes all the difference. My brother is my leadership hero. I didn't know until after he was gone the significant impact he had on others. I've learned so much about his humility and calming leadership - and how authentic and intentional he was with his growth. The role of leadership wasn't a title to him, it was a mission he took seriously. Before he was gone, he would talk about how taking care of the people he had the privilege to lead was his number one priority. After he was gone, it was clear that they felt it. He left an incredible legacy. My leadership trajectory took a major shift after his death. He was the role model I never knew I had. My husband was my biggest cheerleader. His confidence in me built the foundation I needed to challenge myself professionally, take on big risks, and bet on myself when I wasn't sure I was worth it. I hear him in my head saying "go be awesome today" when I'm headed to a big event or training session. He taught me how important it is to have a place to land that makes you feel safe and supported, even when the world feels like it is against you. And he provided that same sense of safety for our kids. Funny how life changes and challenges us, preparing us for the path ahead. No one knows what the future holds, or how long anyone will be with us on this journey. So it all goes back to the value of the time we spend together. I spent yesterday thankful to have had these great, but imperfect, men in my life for so long. They continue to teach me leadership lessons and help me grow, even if they aren't by my side physically. What I know for sure is that every day we get the chance to make a difference in this world. I am extremely happy to share that on May 17, 2026, I officially graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Norbert College (SNC) with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance and a minor in Economics. This accomplishment reflects years of hard work, growth, and perseverance, and I’m incredibly grateful to every single person who supported me throughout the journey - especially my family, friends, and professors. My time at St. Norbert College challenged me to grow both personally and professionally while building meaningful relationships and experiences that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Through my studies in finance and economics, I developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making that I’m excited to carry into the next chapter of my professional career. After taking time to reflect on my college experience, the biggest lesson I learned is that consistency pays dividends. The small decisions to stay disciplined, keep showing up, and continue working toward something bigger than yourself often have a greater impact over time than any single assignment or achievement. It’s a mindset I’ll continue to carry with me in both my personal and professional life. I’m extremely thankful for everything this chapter of life has taught me and look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and pursue new opportunities. Each year, we celebrate the milestone work anniversaries of our incredible employees with a Friday afternoon cookout.
