Lisa Danaczko liked thisLisa Danaczko liked thisI don't think you should hire me. I know that's the opposite of what I'm supposed to say when I'm looking for work, especially on Linkedin. I'm supposed to convince everyone that I'm the perfect fit. Tell every recruiter I'm excited about every opportunity. Twist myself into whatever shape the job description asks for. I don't want to do that anymore. I'm exhausted! I've spent almost two decades in fundraising. I've raised millions of dollars. I've built development departments from scratch. I've managed teams, written grants, led campaigns, and sat in enough board meetings to know exactly what happens when an organization hires someone because they're impressive instead of because they're aligned. It doesn't end well. I don't believe every nonprofit deserves more money. I don't believe every executive director is coachable. I don't believe every board wants to change. And I definitely don't believe fundraising can fix an organization that's unwilling to fix itself. If your answer to every challenge is, "We just need more grants," we're probably not a match. If your culture burns people out and calls it passion, we're probably not a match. If you're looking for someone to magically raise money while ignoring broken systems, unrealistic expectations, racist practices, and leadership that refuses feedback, I'm not your person. I ask hard questions. I challenge assumptions. I poke the bears everyone says not to feed. I care about HOW we raise money more than how much is raised. Sometimes that makes people uncomfortable. Good. Because donors notice when organizations are performative. Staff notice when leadership says one thing and does another. Fundraisers notice when they're being hired to solve problems that have nothing to do with fundraising. For a long time, I thought saying these things would make me less employable. Maybe it will. That's fine. Don't hire me. Happy Monday!

Recently, I earned a Certificate in Innovations and Trends in Public Administration through the Lincoln Vibrant Communities Program, offered by Claremont Lincoln University and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Through my work with the SupplyBank.org (SBO) and Oakport teams, I saw firsthand how collaboration across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors can create better outcomes for communities. These experiences showed me that the strongest solutions create value for everyone involved while remaining scalable and sustainable. I'm grateful to the SBO and Oakport teams and the faculty and staff of the Lincoln Vibrant Communities Program, and the many colleagues and partners who invested in my growth and gave me opportunities to learn from talented people. I'm now exploring opportunities in the greater San Diego area and remote roles where I can continue building partnerships and bringing people together to solve meaningful problems. Lisa Danaczko liked thisLisa Danaczko liked thisThe last two years have been a whirlwind for me as I juggle work and school while trying to maintain a personal life. I'm halfway through my grad program, and finally have a second to breathe, so it seems like a good time for a highlight reel. Here's what I've been up to! 1. I used spatial analysis to identify potential locations for Capital Bikeshare stations in Prince George's County. As a Prince George's County resident, I see firsthand how far behind we are in bicycle infrastructure in comparison to our neighboring jurisdictions: DC, Montgomery County and Northern Virginia. Using population density, worker and commuting pattern data and proximity to public transit and bike infrastructure amongst other factors, I identified 11 possible locations for Capital Bikeshare docking stations across the county - 5 within the Beltway and 5 outside. 2. I use Capital Bikeshare nearly every day to commute to and from work. To better understand the relationship between Metro ridership and Capital Bikeshare usage, I used a linear regression model to analyze CaBi ridership trends in proximity to Metro during peak and off peak commuting hours. 3. This semester, in my Land Use Law class, I learned how to read Zoning Ordinances, Detailed Site Plans, and Resolutions. M-NCPPC updated the Zoning Ordinance in 2022 and gave developers a 2 year grace period where they could choose to utilize the old code or the new code. For our final project, I conducted a comparative property analysis of three developments in Prince George's County to better understand the incentives between each code and why developers may choose one over the other. 4. Just last month, Emmanuel Opoku-Boateng and I wrote a case study of Birmingham, Alabama and Richmond, Virginia - two midsized Southern cities that have successfully eliminated mandatory parking minimums. 5. WABA has maintained a fruitful ongoing partnership with our friends at The National Center for Smart Growth to support the Vision Zero Youth Leadership Institute - WABA's paid internship for Prince George's County high school students. This year, the interns hosted the 2026 Youth Transportation Safety Summit, a free conference for high school students, at the Maryland School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. We are eternally grateful to Ariel H. Bierbaum, MCP, PhD, who is the biggest champion of this work and is endlessly proud of our students! 6. I also managed to get some time in outside 🙂 Thank you to all of my professors, my team at WABA and my school friends for your support. I'm looking forward to all there is to learn in my second half of grad school!
