In a landscape littered by F1 race recaps, we seek to examine the sport in a different way: through culture. A new chapter for the Patricelli Center at Wesleyan University. Beginning this Fall, we are becoming the Patricelli Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE)! This new name reflects the broad scope of innovation and venture-building at Wesleyan while continuing to honor our strong roots in social entrepreneurship, which remains a central pillar of our work. We are moving into a newly renovated & expanded space on the second floor of Allbritton Hall, with two offices, a co-working space, and a boardroom. This new chapter is made possible by a generous new gift from Robert Patricelli ’61, P’88, P’90, whose support founded the Center in 2011 and sustained its mission ever since. Bob’s support strengthens Wesleyan’s ability to ensure that students will continue to have the resources, mentorship, and global opportunities to build their leadership capacity and create new organizations, companies, and movements. After almost six years at Teen Vogue, I'm heading back to Talking Points Memo to become the deputy editor for audience and strategy, working alongside the amazing John Light and Nicole Lafond. It's been an honor to oversee coverage of the chaotic past six years in US politics, from the end of Roe to the COVID pandemic and the Floyd protests and two Trump election cycles. In a media landscape where young people are too often scolded, mocked or condescended to, I loved working at a publication that allowed Gen Zers and Millennials to tell their own stories. I've gotten to work with so many brilliant students and freelancers, and of course the dream team at Teen Vogue, who do the work of 50 people with a staff half the size. I also got married, had a baby, moved apartments three times, and worked with my colleagues to help form our union and win a contract. I've grown so much as an editor and journalist during my time here, and I'm excited to return to the newsroom where I came up and help it expand further!

While visiting LinkedIn’s Mountain View office yesterday, I heard Tomer Cohen speak about the power of connection and community on LinkedIn, and specifically how people jump at any opportunity to help others on this platform in a way you don’t find elsewhere. It really made me think about my own career: Nearly every job or career opportunity I’ve gotten has come from—in one way or another—a CONNECTION. Someone giving me their time and resources to jumpstart my aspirations into reality. Here are some examples: ✅Lily Herman was one of the first writers to ever sit down for coffee with me when I was in college, and learning from her changed everything for me. It gave me insight and a path to follow. ✅Michael Kaye referred me to my current job at LinkedIn at a time when I desperately needed to leave fashion, and I would say it’s turned out pretty iconic. ✅Greg Snapper gave me some invaluable guidance and reassurance when I was struggling to find my footing in tech, and to really understand what I wanted out of my career. ✅Everytime I have a super quick #sourcerequest, Jade Walters, Morgan Young, Caitlyn Kumi, AJ Eckstein 🧩 and so many others jump in to RECOMMEND OTHERS. That is community in action. The list goes on and on. But if you’re now wondering “HOW,” here are three ways you can maximize your community’s helpful spirit on LinkedIn today: 1) YOUR CONNECTION’S CONNECTION: Listen, we’ve all been there. You’re applying for a job and see that someone in your network is connected to the recruiter you’re trying to get the attention of. So when you see this…ASK TO BE CONNECTED. Yes, it’s ok to do so! If you know those in your network well and they know you, the ask is much less intimidating than you might think. So STEP ONE is making sure you cultivate community within your network, and then STEP TWO is tapping into that. 2) ASK FOR ADVICE: The way I have needed so much advice throughout my career…and I still do everyday! Just on Tuesday, I asked Catherine Fisher for her tips on becoming better at organization so that I can find a way to more effectively manage numerous projects at once. DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR ADVICE. LinkedIn is literally fueled by knowledge—you need to be tapping into it. 3) BE TRANSPARENT & POST IT: Ok, I know this is where people get scared. “I don’t wanna post that I’m looking for a job and look desperate.” I get it. But please believe me when I say the stigma you think exists is DEAD. Be vocal, be transparent. If you’re still reading this 7am LinkedIn novel I’ve drafted, here’s what I’ll say: I am here so help. Ask me for advice, connection, etc. I’ll review your resume, give you the tea on anything, etc. I’m here for you, just like so many were here for me.

A few weeks ago, I closed out an amazing chapter at Boosted Commerce. Big thanks to Keith Richman and Charlie Chanaratsopon for bringing me on in the early days, and to the incredible team I had the chance to build and grow with. I’m so grateful for everything we created together and all the lessons along the way. Now onto a new adventure: I’ve joined Ziff Davis Shopping to lead branded content. It’s already been a great start, and I’m especially excited to be back working with some familiar (and fantastic) faces! More to come soon, but feeling grateful and energized for what’s next.
